of the mightiest deity in the form of Padmanabhaswamy. The god here lies in
Anananthasayanam posture which makes it one of its own kind in the Nation.
Ambalapuzha

Dedicated
to Lord Krishna, this is the ancient Sree Krishna Temple which is situated 8
miles in south of the city. It is famous
for the milk porridge, 'Palpayasam' served here throughout the nation. Close to
the temple lies an image of the Buddha at Karumadi, dated back to the time when
Buddhism flourished here. Once in a decade, 'Pallipana' is performed by
'Velans' (sorcerers) which is considered as sacred by the locales.

to Bhagawati - the mother Goddess is considered as the most sacred deities in
Kerala. Closely lays Poornatrayesa temple at Tripunittura, which is equally sacred

Guruvayoor
Temple
This
is also dedicated to Sree Krishna Temple and is considered as the most sacred
pilgrimage of Kerala. Covered and inlaid with exquisite mural paintings and
carvings, this is one of the best temple exquisitely drawn and structured. This
place has hosted maximum number of marriages and rice feeding ceremonies (the
ritual first meal for infants). This place also hold importance in history as
it is the hub of the 'Guruvayoor Sathyagraha’, which meant temple entry rights
for the lower castes. As far as the locales believe, this place is built and
created by 'Guru', the 'preceptor of the gods' and god of winds.
Vishwanatha
Swamy, Palakkad
It
is the oldest Shiva temple which is situated at almost 3 kms from Palakkad. The
festival organized here every year includes three magnificent chariots,
decorated with flowers and flags sanctioned by the presence of the lord. The
Chariot Festival here lasts for seven days. On the last three days, the temple
chariots are drawn through the roads by thousands of followers which is
considered ceremonious by the locales.
The
procession includes many and the unlimited who tries to reach out to the
privileged ones who are drawing the chariot.
