Persona 6 Story Is Likely To Be Inspired By Final Fantasy 15

The Persona franchise has always brought something new to the table, but you might find salts from the Final Fantasy 15 in the upcoming Persona 6. The story till now is focused on a road trip. The idea of the game is to highlight the self-discovery of the main protagonist and the side characters.

Play all Japanese Role Playing Games, and you will find most of them revolving around long journeys across streets, roads, cities, towns, countries and even continents. Among all these games centring trips and tours, the Final Fantasy 15 is perhaps the most loved. Four hunks set out their journey along the countryside in a beautiful land yacht. How is the plot related to that of Persona? The plot of Persona lays its focus on beautiful locations, one at a time, like the Inaba town and the Tokyo city.

The ones who had been consistent with all the five seasons know that the game’s plot has mostly been in the city of Tokyo. It is said that while the upcoming Persona will probably be based on Persona 5’s initial idea, there will be instances in the game where you may find some borrowed inspiration from Final Fantasy 15.

The Concept Of Persona 5

The creative director of Persona, Katsura Hashino, was creative enough to blend social simulation and a JRPG concept. There were many new and exciting innovations introduced in Persona 3, and since then, the game hasn’t looked back. Hashino wanted to bring in some new changes to the plot of Persona 5. The usual high-school friendships sounded a bit dull to the creative director; he now wanted to make the characters interact with the world outside school. Thus, the man set some initial scenarios outside the boundaries of Tokyo.

However, destiny didn’t want Hashino to do as he wished. Some instances made the creative director think again about the idea. The Great East Japan Earthquake had been a tragic experience for everyone in the country. The incident shook Hashino to a great extent that the man dropped the idea of taking the storyline of Persona 5 away from the setting of Japan.

It won’t be wrong to say that the shattering incident of the earthquake triggered the feeling of patriotism in the makers’ hearts. Japan’s social consciousness needed to be brought back in order to give the victims the courage to face the crisis. Thus, the idea of taking the story away from the land of Japan seemed less important now. Hashino decided to demonstrate Japanese pride in Persona 5, mainly to make a positive relieving impact on the distressed countrymen in the wake of the earthquake.

How Road Trip Games Started To Take The Centre Stage

Persona 5 could have been based on trips and journeys beyond Japan if the sad East Japan Earthquake didn’t take place. One of the aftereffects of the earthquake was the complete change in the idea of Persona 5. However, there were other games based on the concept of travelling that took birth. You guessed it right; it’s the Final Fantasy 15. The exciting road trip of Noctis and his gang was worth enjoying. With Noctis being the main hero, the gang experienced many incidents throughout the game. It was amazing to see how the bond of each of his companions strengthened with the lead character. There is a lot you had experienced in the game as it gives you complete insights about the friendship. No game based on road trips isn’t appealing, especially when you have a luxury land yacht along.

Not only Final Fantasy 15, but other games too started to try their luck in the travel concept. Several AAA games based on the same concept started to get some love from the audience. Many eyes are waiting to see how the new Sci-Fi MMO Outriders will demonstrate the idea of road trips. Other games like the My Summer Car or the Jalopy are also ready to bring some fresh travel vibes. The concept of road trips isn’t new to JRPG, though. There have also been instances when Final Fantasy games have tried to include airship journeys, but the feel of an adventurous road trip is unmatched.

Persona 6

The Persona 5 couldn’t include the concept of a road trip, for all the right reasons, but it doesn’t mean the upcoming versions won’t include any such vibes. However, there are some possible changes in the main storyline to fit the road trip concept more comfortably. Firstly, it is obvious that no high schoolers are given a chance to go on a road trip for an entire year. This sounds impractical. Thus some changes in the detailing are likely to happen.

For instance, probably there will be a road trip shown featuring college students going abroad for further education. An idea like this would make complete sense, and no player would require to raise a brow on the theme. Such an approach could explore both Japan or the outside countries without any hassle. Persona 6 is currently being worked on, and the backpacking journey would be its X factor. The development team can probably consider Final Fantasy 15 as an inspiration in the concept building.
