Panaji or Panjim city is located in north Goa district which is also a capital city of the Goa state. The city touched Mandovi River bank. It is spread in 36 kilometers square area land which has approx 114,405 population. It is a largest populated city now of the Goa state. Earlier, it was a local village till 1843. After 1843 Portuguese is converted into a Panjim city Goa state capital in 1987. After independent it was converted in a capital city from 1961.
