Pakistan Set Records In Multiple Formats in 2021

by Hreet N. Business
Pakistan was on fire in the T20 World Cup, winning all four games in the Super 12 phase to advance to the semi-finals, only to be defeated by Australia. After being smashed out in the semi-finals, Pakistan went on a tour of Bangladesh and managed to win the T20I and Test series 5-0. Nicholas Pooran helped lead the West Indies squad in the T20i in Pakistan, where they were beaten 3-0 by the in-form Babar Azam squad.

So, here are a few of the records set by Pakistan in 2021 across various formats including Pakistan t20 records:

•    Mohammad Rizwan managed to score the most T20I runs in a calendar year.
Mohammad Rizwan's performance in T20Is this year falls just short of big words. In the T20I layout, the wicketkeeper-batter had such an exceptional and terrific year. He accumulated 1326 runs in a calendar year when no other batsman has ever attained the 1000-run milestone. His captain, Babar Azam, is the second person to achieve the accomplishment this year, with 939 runs. With an overall mean of 73.66 and 13 50-plus total scores, Rizwan together with Babar Azam formed Pakistan’s year in the T20Is.

•    Pakistan won the most T20Is in a calendar year.
The Men in Green set the record for most T20I victories by a squad in a calendar year with 20 successes. Babar Azam and his team did break their previous record of 17 successes set in 2018. Pakistan did play 29 T20Is this year, having lost only six, and 3 games were called off due to rain in the West Indies. The Asian team had a successful year in the quickest international format, thanks primarily to skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

•    In a calendar year, Babar Azam managed to score the most sprints as skippers in T20Is.
In T20Is in 2021, this is all about Babar Azam, aside from Mohammad Rizwan. The captain scored 939 runs, the most by any skipper in a calendar year. The Lahore-born batsman hit nine half-centuries and one century with an overall mean of 37.56. His introductory collaboration with Rizwan was the entire highpoint and hit piece this year, and they were the reason Pakistan was so effective. Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah is 2nd with 496 runs, trailing only Babar Azam, who managed to score 496 runs this year.

•    Shoaib Malik scored Pakistan's quickest fifty in T20Is.
Shoaib Malik, an experienced Pakistani batter, hammered Pakistan's quickest half-century in T20Is against Scotland in Sharjah during the Cricket World Cup. Shoaib Malik's fifty happened to come in just 18 deliveries, breaking Umar Akmal's 11-year-old record of 21 balls against Australia in 2010. Malik hit six shots into the main stand with a scoring rate of 300.00 to stay not out in the 54 against the Scottish.

•    In T20Is, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have published the most century alliances.
With six century collaborations, all of which came this year, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan presently have the most hundred alliances in T20Is. They surpassed India's KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma's total of five such main stands. The Pakistani duo has 1473 runs at an average of 56.65 and a top score of 197. They have four half-century alliances between them as well. Undoubtedly, both of them made 2021 their own by splitting a slew of records.
