Summer is the perfect time to paint your homes. If you plan to paint your house this hot summer, there are things which you have to consider and follow to ensure that you’d get the best results. There is no need to hire professionals to do the job for you. With just a little bit of patience and few tips from this post, we are sure you can change your home’s color without breaking so much from your savings.

Are you ready to learn these tricks?

Choose the Right Paint

When you have decided the colors that you want for each area of your house, you have to know which kind of paint would be best. Remember, we have paint which is perfect for exterior and is more durable. We also have paint which is perfect for bedrooms, or the one which is applicable for bathrooms. We all want our newly painted home to last, right? It’s not just about colors, it’s also about the type of paint to be used to make sure that your paint will last as long as it can. Do your research on what type of paint would work well in a certain area of your home. Wood and concrete have different paint requirements too.

Clean Up and Cover Up

We know that it can get pretty exciting to paint your walls with a fresh color. However, you need to hold the excitement a little longer because you have to clean up and cover up. When we say clean up, make sure that your walls are free from nails and that you fill up the holes. Remove things which you don’t want to be painted like door knobs. Or perhaps, cover your floors with old newspapers or rags. It is also advisable to layout areas where you plan to have two colors with a white tape to create sleek and clean finishes in between two different colors in a common wall. It would also be advisable to move your furniture out to keep paint off your furniture.

Painting

Now, let’s go to the fun part. Get a quality paint brush so you know you’d get a nearly perfect result. Always start with your ceiling, followed by your walls, down to your doors and end it with your floors. Are you familiar with the ‘M’ pattern? If you are using a roller brush, start your paint job with a huge M pattern and then work from there. Of course, there will be retouch needed afterwards, so be sure to prepare for it by saving little amount of paint.

Putting your Furniture Back

You don’t want to spoil your newly painted room and your furniture, right? That’s why you have to dry it for at least 24 hours before you can put back the furniture. If you do not have a space where you can store your furniture for the meantime, covering them with used newspapers will have to do. It is also advisable to paint one area of the home at a time to allow you to use the other areas of your home while one area dries up.

Easy right? We are sure you are going to have challenges on your first room. But after that, it will be a whole lot easier.
