But, before you set out on the nearest shore or some remote fishing location you should first take a look at your tackle box and make sure you're well equipped for your adventurous fishing trips this summer. Fishing is fun and relaxing, but it's also one of those sports that can be very unpredictable. A quick change in the weather conditions can easily ruin what was supposed to be an enjoyable fishing trip and as a fisherman you can come across many different situations, like fishing in murky waters, on the pouring rain or trying to catch a large predatory fish with the sun beaming into your eyes. Fishing Knife

A great fishing knife is just as important as a suitable pair of rod and reel and can come in handy in so many situations like cutting bigger fish such as salmon and halibut, adjusting your fishing lines, gutting smaller fish like trout and the list continues. Knives for fishing allow you to easily clean your fish on the spot without making a lot of mess. Also the frustration of using a tangled fishing line can quickly be solved with your handy knife. Most top quality knives for fishing are made from stainless steel and feature a rubber grip handle for comfort and ease of use. It's best to get a sharp knife that has a thin blade which can easily separate the fish meat from the bone and skin.

Extra Line

There are situations, especially when catching larger fish, when your line will not only twist and tangle, but get brittle and even brake just as you're about to get your catch. This is where having extra line in your tackle box can save the day. What kind of line you choose for your fishing trip depends on the fish species you're targeting and the specific water conditions. If you're fishing for larger predatory fish a heavier and durable line would be the ideal choice. If, however, you want to catch smaller fish in calm clear waters then a thin, clear line would do just fine.

Bobbers

Also know as floaters, bobbers are attached to the line and basically have the function to keep your bait floating on the water's surface or suspend it at different depths. It also allows you to easily sense when fish are biting your bite since the boober sinks as soon as a fish bites on the live bait or lure. Most fishing bobbers are made from plastic and usually have a round or oval shape.

Sinkers

When using light baits that can't sink that deeply into the water you would need sinkers that are designed to add weight to your baits. These come in various forms and the most commonly used ones are split shot sinkers that have small handles on each side so you can remove them and reuse them multiple times. Most sinkers are made from lead, but they can be made from other materials as well including steel, brass and bismuth.
