While ordering a wedding dress just for yourself comes with its own set of obstacles, that’s nothing compared to the nearly insurmountable task of getting dresses for your bridesmaids.  You want your bridesmaids to look good while matching your overall wedding theme.  This can be a challenge especially when everyone of your bridesmaids has their own sense of style and fashion.  It may seem impossible, I grant you that, but if you follow some of the pointers I give you here in this blog post, you’ll greatly reduce the size of the headache in getting dresses for your bridesmaids.

 

There are some wedding parties that opt to let their bridesmaids (Long Bridesmaid Dresses) wear whatever they want as long as it falls within certain parameters, such as a certain length, a certain color, or colors, or specific restrictions on what can be worn.  If you’re looking for an easy approach to the clothing of your bridesmaids, this might be just the way for you as it delegates the responsibility to those who are in your wedding party and will lift a huge amount of work from your shoulders.

 

However, if your wedding has specific themes and colors and you want everyone to match, then the latter option is not going to give you what you want.  It’s time for you to roll up your sleeves and do some digging.

 

The first thing you’ll want to do is find a dress shop online that will work closely with you.  You may want to reach out to the business and see if they will give you good customer service.  Ask them some very basic questions about their dresses, their return/exchange policy, how long it take to get a dress, etc.  The reason why all of this is important is that you want to work with a business that’s going help you with all of your questions and concerns.  Giving them a little preliminary test should just be your way of determining who is trustworthy.

 

Another reason to reach out to a dress company and speak to them over the phone, is because many dress companies, especially online, offer discounts on bulk orders of dresses.  They typically won’t advertise this discount on the actually listing for the dress, but if you call and ask, you may be surprised at the response.  The worst they could say, after all, is no.  You should also try to work with the same representative who offered the discount to you.  That way, if you call multiple times with multiple questions, you won’t have to continually explain and re-explain your situation.

 

Once you’ve found a dress company that you like, and you’ve found a dress that you like, the difficult part begins: sizing.  The best way to do this is to get all of the measurements of your Long Bridesmaid Dresses and individual determine their size.  We highly discourage you from doing this on your own.  Use the connection you made with the representative.  Get them to help you determine the appropriate size for each of your bridesmaids.  This won’t necessarily guarantee that every size that the representative helps you choose will fit perfectly, but it does allow someone who has a lot more experience with these dresses to help you get a good start.

 

Most places will allow you to exchange your dress or dress for a different size.  This can be a tremendous benefit when you have 6 or 7 bridesmaids and everyone fits into their dress except for 2 or 3 of them.  Don’t expect everyone to fit into their dress perfectly the first time.  You may find that your friend who was suppose to wear the size 6 actually fits better in a size 8, and the friend that you got a size 8 for, fits better in a size 6.  The best thing to do in these situations is to have all of your bridesmaids try the dresses on and exchange them between themselves.  Eventually you’ll end up with 1 or 2 people who need to exchange a dress for a different size as opposed 5 or 6.

 

Once you know who needs to exchange their dresses and for what size, reach out to your customer service representative.  Give them the heads-up about the situation.  Chances are they’re expecting this sort of call and will be ready to help you.  Double check with them and make sure they have the sizes you need in stock.  Get all of the necessary info needed to make an exchange and follow the instructions to the best of your ability.

 

It’s important, whether you’re ordering bridesmaid dresses or any formal dress, to give yourself enough time to make any alterations or exchanges.  Keep in mind that the more time you have the more the dress company will be able to help you and the more time you’ll have to make any last minute alterations.  We encourage our customers to give themselves at least a 2 months before their event to get all of their bridesmaid dresses.
