Oil massage: An effective way to keep the skin young

As winter approaches, it’s very first effect is felt on the skin. Skin and hair begin to become dry and coarse. The heel begins to swell. Oil massage is an effective remedy for all of these.

Know what Ayurveda suggests for oil massage.

Who should do oil massage?

• Anyone who wants to keep skin and hair smooth and shiny.

• Those whose skin, hair are often dry and coarse.

• Women who often feel tired – weak.

• Being underweight or overweight.

• Persons suffering from air disease, joint disease, muscle disease.

• Individuals who have pain in the heel after waking up in the morning after standing for a long time, walking.

• Oil massage is very beneficial for children who are not gaining weight, are developing slowly.

Which oil to use?

• Sesame oil generally suits everyone.

• Almond oil, olive oil, kumkumadi oil are used to massage the face.

• Coconut or sesame oil should be used for head massage.

• To cure thinking, depression, anxiety, choose from Sahchar oil, Brahmi oil, Jyotishmati oil, Chandanbalalakshadi oil, dip a bunch of wool in the oil and place it on Brahmarandhra in the head. The oil will benefit the palate by absorbing it.

• Apply camphor mixed with Bhringraj oil, Brahmi-milk oil, coprael to cure gall diseases like gourds, migraines or head boils if there is a lot of anger, loss of memory.

• Mahanarayan oil, panchaguna oil is best for joint pain.

• Use Ashwagandha oil if there is muscle weakness.

• Kokum oil, castor oil or cow ghee are good for warts on soles of feet.

• Use karanj oil for skin diseases (eczema vs.) hyper-hypo pigmentation, fungal infections, pimples.

• Bhringraj oil, coprael, sesame oil are useful for baldness, hair fall.

• Premature baldness, in case of baldness in young women use Dhaturapatradi, Karanjayadi, Neem oil under Vedic guidance.

Benefits of oil massage

• Oil massage keeps the skin glowing, youthful, wrinkle free.

• Fatigue subsides.

• Air pollution is reduced.

• Loss of appetite and better sleep.

• Massaging the body parts also increases the blood circulation in the muscles and tendons which leads to recovery. Sensitization occurs properly.

Who doesn't get a massage?:

• Those who have had vomiting and diarrhoea. Indigestion should not be massaged with oil.

• A patient with fever, cold should not massage.

 

Tips

• Massage the oil gently in the direction away from the fur.

• Depending on the shape of the muscle, vary the palm size and grip to apply pressure as needed.

• In diseases like slip disc, joint wear and tear, oil massage without proper guidance will increase the damage.

• If the roots of the hair are weak, then apply oil with a bunch of wool. Do not rub the hair, otherwise it will fall out more.
