Image Many women who are nearing their 40’s worry about wrinkles and fine lines in their face and neck. And for those who can afford it, they resort to facelift to get an enhancement. But for those that cannot shell out extra money for a make-over, fear not because as young as you are today, you do not need to go under the knife to have a facelift. There are many food alternatives that you can try to counter the rapid manifestation of aging skin.

Lucky for us and thanks to science, these five foods are our best weapon against skin aging; so read on and be inspired.

Spinach
Dark leafy vegetables, especially spinach, are rich in antioxidant lutein; which is not only good for our eyesight but recent studies show that it is also good in preventing wrinkles by helping retain our skin’s moisture and elasticity. Spinach also increases our lipid levels and prevents skin damaging caused by free radicals.  Spinach is also beneficial in reducing dark circles under our eyes because it is very high in vitamins K and C. Vitamins C and K alleviates poor blood circulation and strengthens capillary walls (specifically around the eyes); thus lessening eye puffiness.

Oysters
More popularly known to be an aphrodisiac, oysters are one of the biggest “beauty foods” for its many health benefits. Oysters are recommended for people who have pale, pallid skin or dark circles their eyes. According to researchers, this may be due to vitamin B12 or iron deficiency. To counter pasty skin, try stocking up on oysters—which has high levels of both. Alternatives include mussels and clams.

Garlic
What it lacks in fragrance, it makes up for being a superfood that has great skin benefits. Garlic is a cheap source natural antibiotic with blood cleansing, immune boosting and antibacterial properties that help treat acne properly. If eaten crushed and raw, garlic helps reduce future breakouts and its anti-inflammatory properties lessens swelling and inflammation of acne and pimples.

Avocados
Even if avocados has very high level of fats, it is also like garlic—a super food, especially in the skin department. Avocado is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that not only help moisturize the skin from the inside, but it is also good to prevent arthritis. It also increases collagen production which helps in preventing wrinkles. Avocados also have anti-inflammatory properties which diminish acne and psoriasis and its high level of Vitamin E keeps your skin supple and creamy.

Bananas
Facelift in the Philippines is one of the most in-demand plastic surgery procedures but isn’t it ironic that for a tropical country rich in bananas, they still have to undergo such feats?

Because bananas are very high in potassium, it balances the sodium/potassium ratio in our body. If this goes unbalanced, it results to puffy face and eye bags. You can easily control this by eating a banana at least once a day.

Facelift is an expensive plastic surgery procedure but you can prevent it by eating these foods religiously. It only takes a banana a day to do it so don’t be lazy, eat your veggies and fruits!
