Nintendo Switch After-Market Docks/HUBS Insight

by Kimberly S. Berry Content Marketer Executive

Choosing out the best switch replacement dock isn’t a child’s play. They come in different shapes and sizes from various brand contenders. Nonetheless, we have compiled the alternate docks for your Nintendo Switch which replace the original classic dock. These docks are pertinently designed to be more portable and minimalistic. The ports on these docks are usually x1 HDMI (For video output), x1 USB 3.0 (For charging), x1 USB C (For plugging in LAN adapter or Keyboard or Wireless), while some docks may have additional ports.

We’ve lined up below that we think to serve as a suitable replacement for your Nintendo Switch dock. All of them vary in size and shape but will allow you to charge your Switch and output video to a bigger screen.

#1: Defway Switch Dock, Portable Switch Charging Stand

Nintendo Switch Replacement Dock Defway

The original Nintendo Switch dock can be a bit bulky, especially if you’re on the go. The Defway Dock is smaller and portable while offering most of the same functions as the original dock. It features a USB-C port, for powering and charging, an HDMI port for video out, and a USB 3.0 port for connecting any external device. You can dock the switch on it horizontally, same as the original dock.

#2: Best Switch Dock Replacement CableCreation USB C Hub for Switch

The CableCreation USB C hub serves as a unique alternative to the official Nintendo Dock which works flawlessly and provides the same features and ports as the original, and all that with a peculiar minimalistic design and being extremely portable or handy. It has a USB C port, a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, and an HDMI port. However, because of the design of it, the Nintendo Switch can’t be anchored or harbored.

#3: Best Switch Dock Replacement: Hycarus Switch TV Dock Charging Station Adapter

Nintendo Switch Replacement Dock Hycarus

The Hycarus Switch dock serves as an alternative to the Defway dock and works much the same way. This dock has the advantage of also including two USB 2.0 ports in addition to the USB-C, USB 3.0, and HDMI out connections. If you use corded controllers with your Switch, this allows you to get several more players without worrying about having to use a USB hub.

Hycarus also claims that its dock features “unique cooling holes” which allow heat from the console to dissipate easier. We’re not sure how much these holes help with cooling the Switch, but if you find your system gets too hot, then the additional cooling will be welcome.

Above listed Docks are all similar in function and the build quality is great as well. You will get the display via HDMI cable connected to TV/Monitor the moment you attach the HUB. Don’t have to worry about charging the switch as these Hubs will charge the switch as well. These docks run a little hot during prolonged usage but that is totally normal. Feel free to share your experiences in the comments or ask should you have any questions.

Some Tips ---✅

#1 Mostly all docks will get a little hot, so that is normal.

#2 There is no lag/flickering in these docks as far as I have tested.

#3 It’s better to use original power brick for the Nintendo switch, if not then make sure Switch gets enough power. (I used an unofficial USB-C charger though).

4# Use a High-Quality USB C Cable (preferably Gen 2 which are 5A).

#5 Don’t block the Cooling vents on Switch, especially the exhaust ones.

#6 Don’t upgrade firmware while in dock mode, otherwise, it might brick your Nintendo Switch.
