New YouTube Feature of “Stories” Rolls Out for All the Creators

by Anshul S. Business Marketing

In today’s digital era, it has been crucial for tech companies to constantly offer newer updates and features to their software’s and apps. Mobile app development companies have been also working on adding some innovative and engaging features to their mobile apps. Last year, popular video-sharing platform YouTube launched a Snapchat Stories-like feature called "Reel." Most of the people have never heard of it because YouTube rolled it out to only a very tiny number of highly popular channels. In June 2017, YouTube said it would later in the year expand Stories to the creator community with more than 10,000 subscribers. Now, it has finally done. Earlier introduced in Beta, YouTube is now expanding “Youtube Stories” to a large pool of creators.

First launched by Snapchat, Stories have widely become a popular form of content across Facebook & Instagram. In fact, app developers are also started working on these features into the mobile apps. Considering this, YouTube has also thought to give users something new in the form of Reel. The main idea behind YouTube Stories is to give creators an easy way to engage with their fans in-between their more polished and produced videos. But, one thing you need to keep in mind that only if you have 10,000 subscribers or more, then you will be able to utilize this feature for channel promotion and community engagement. Once enabled in the platform, YouTube creators can film a new story by opening the YouTube app, tapping on the video camera icon, then selecting “Create Story.”

What’s New in YouTube Stories?

  • One of the most influential features in YouTube’s case is that Stories disappear after 7 days, not 24 hours.
  • Audience can “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” comments and “heart” comments, on the stories as well on which creators can respond anytime. The same comment moderation tools that are available on YouTube’s video upload are also available on Stories.
  • More features include comment moderation support, and the creator can delete shared short videos anytime.
  • Various editing options, such as trimming, adding music, stickers, text, filters, and saving to the camera roll are available for the creators.

Now, it will be great to see how beneficial it will be for the creators.
