NEW Portrait Photography Ideas!

hey how's it going I've given a good day  so far today I'm gonna be shooting a  model I'm also gonna be using random  photography props instead of using  normal things like a prison or some  fairy light it's gonna walk around my  house and buying random shit alright  let's start off the back here we've got  some pots pans what about this thing  take a cake bake rest of things and only  bake your cake and then you put the cake  on this Earl I can cool down yeah  alright one thing down four to go what's  random enough that it's going to make  you cool photo but not gonna freak the  model out oh this could be cool have you  ever seen these candleholders it's  literally yeah it holds the candle I  don't know what we're gonna do with this  we'll light the candle maybe play around  with the lighting from it or something  like that I reckon we can make this work  I want something that comes towards the  lens maybe some string or something  drivin hub string I don't even know who  have the shit is in my house well we got  some shoe laces I don't know what we're  gonna do with these we can have them  coming towards the camera like that sort  of thing I'm making the model in half an  hour by the way I should probably be  leaving tonight we still gotta find two  more things grab a pair of my mom's  glasses sorry mum if you're watching  this but thank you as well and for the  last one let's just get something really  random but let's do skeins is the last  pop what if I touch some string through  the coins and then just have heaps of  different coins hanging it like all  different ways around the model this  could either work just miserably fail  but who cares I'm gonna try anyway let's  go

if you're about to shoot a model and  you're nervous and you don't know what  poses you wanted to do go on to  Pinterest type in model poses and you  just go through there and you just have  a look at some poses this it's a really  good way to show the model of how you  want her to look you ever done a street  where the photographer's had like we had  props or you've had like a weird costume  on pretty normal right well tonight it's  gonna be a bit interesting because in  this bag I've got five random things  from my house they're probably like this  photographer got their cheapest ladder   cents okay thank you you got the  water yep yeah it works awesome I'm  thinking here I feel like the first shot  because we've got the graffiti in the  background I'm thinking we use the  candle later for when it's a bit darker  I want to try glasses  I'm not gonna get you to wear them like  I'm more had it for like up close to the  way I don't even know if that looks or  the first shots are we gonna do is on  the  millimeter I don't know I've  never done this before with the quarter  but I'm just gonna hold it up against  the lens to try get some refraction or  lens flare just like oh okay I don't  even know I'm just gonna figure it out  blog  figure out what  hey my mom's bosses by the way leave it  broken before but I've I didn't just  break them then welcome to my blog

got a warm-up with photo shoots are fine  do you find that with modeling as well  like you've got a warm up a little bit  like the first couple of photos they  might not be the best part he's got a  Walmart no I'm keen to use this great is  this for an oven though this is what you  put a cake on after your baby actually  got a little bit of cake on it still so  blog  what are these things right here  oh yeah the sun's just about to go down  so let's drink we got a shot  oh dude it already looks good in camera  I've got all these pop in this bag it  sounds like I'm a junkie just like the  good thing about bringing your own props  and not relying on the location should I  have to travel far we can literally do  this whole photo shoot within my couple  block we don't have to get in the car  drive to a new location which is awesome  totally gonna take us that long and we  can still get a couple of good photos  out of it the Sun is going down as we  speak so we gotta kind of hurry up I  don't know what I'm doing I'm just  guessing do you know what we're doing I  think if we just pull up you just pull  up here we're gonna pull up for the next  photo I think we're gonna use the great  I'm thinking like if you put your hands  through it or something  blog  but what this looks like the extra  points what cake is this cinnamon in  there yes  [Applause]  blog

the next shot what I was thinking is  they've got these shoelaces I'm thinking  of having these coming towards the land  leading lines if we come towards the  nail  blog  [Laughter]  blog  and I make a bet with DJ okay if I get  to take this one shot of your face but  if you laugh you have to buy me a coffee  if you don't laugh I have to buy your  coffee  deal shake on it alright okay we're  gonna do a  minute  blog  I'll give you a new one how you a coffee  I thought I had you maybe I'm just  immature life on this shit I actually  don't know if this is gonna work at all  but the idea that I had if we hold my  heaps of different coins up like one  yeah are you any good at candle lighting  tuck that in there the idea is to have  that lighting on your face I don't know  what it is about doing really weird  ideas with photography but recently I've  just been loving it these have been my  favorite  to film where I'll just  go out and use random props I think it's  the fact that they surprisingly work  with the first photo here as I was  taking it I couldn't stop laughing  because look at the effect this does it  just like it made her face look like  that filter artists thought it was funny  and I was just in like a laughing mood I  couldn't stop laughing this one here was  my favorite I like how it gives it a  nice foggy dreamlike effect by changing  the way that I was holding the glasses  towards the camera like changing the  angles that's how I got the different  light leaks and different photo effects  then as we're walking over we saw those  kegs on the wall with the chain there  and I thought it'd be cool if I got  Terry to hold to chain up to her face to  create some depth  we had the sunlight coming through the  back and I love this shot this shot  makes me want to shoot more in sunlight  got another shot here where we could  just see the sunlight I'm just like the  other sunlight highlights Terry's eyes  in this show shadow  in this show toe next up we have the  grill of a cape cooler thing whatever it  is I don't matter comment down below  what is that thing it's like a cake  make cool things I really like this shop  because for such a simple prop you can  just carry it around it's really  portable I like the effect that this one  gave off because I was shooting on the   millimeter you can see that really  shallow depth of field I focused it on  her eyes whenever I'm doing portrait  photography I always like to focus  directly on the models eyes I'm still  new with portrait photography even  during this shoot I was like what do I  do

I don't know I don't really know what  I'm doing but I was just having fun with  it with this drink photo I didn't really  know what was going to happen I just  thought it would be cool to have  something coming towards a lens because  that really captures my eye in a photo  if I see particles or someone holding  their hands out or just anything coming  towards the lens and creating those  leading lines is something that I like  to incorporate in photography whenever I  can I like to have a light of the neon  sign actually colored the strings I  think that was a really important factor  of this photo if I didn't have that the  strings would have just been white also  real quick shout out to Terry for  modeling in this blog cuz she was a  really good model and really good to  work with because I don't really feel  that comfortable to do models it's not  that I don't feel comfortable I just  feel like I've got a lot of room for  improvement in terms of how to director  model whenever I'm on a photo shoot I  don't really know what to say and I  don't know how to direct the model but  Terry made it really easy because she  knew what to do like I would just point  the camera up and you would just like to  do different poses and just Juniata  model well so good work Gary don't go  check out Terry's Instagram I'll leave  it just here then we had the coin phone  ah the coins were just it was just a  really random idea and I didn't know if  it was gonna work but we tried it anyway  and it was just dead I don't know the  idea that I had was to have coins in the  foreground and in the background but as  Mike was setting the shot up I  accidentally bumped him and then all the  coins just clogged up and we couldn't  really do the shot but I did like the  neon lighting in this photo it gave it  kind of a cool vibe I find that I  struggle with editing portrait when I'm  trying to get the skin tones right and  there's a lot of different colors in the  photos so that's just something else I  want to get better at is making sure the  skin  in my portraits are just on point I love  how the pattern of the candle light is  really scattered it almost looks like a  spider's web because the candle light  was orange I wanted to have that  contrast of blue and orange I grabbed  the brush tool in Lightroom and I just  selected over all the part that wasn't  the orange part of the photo and then I  just made the color a tiny bit blue just  to have that contrasting colors also all  these photos were edited using my  library presets so if you want to go  download them I'll leave them in the  link in the description they come with   individual presets and then
