Microsoft has released a new ‘Family Safety’ app for iOS and Android devices. The working of the application was being tested for months, and now it is finally released. The primary goal of the app is to manage the usage and screen time of a device.

The Family Safety app will enable the parents to set a screen limit for their children, and receive information regarding their usage. The best part about using this application is that the settings sync itself across Xbox, Windows, and Android. In case, your child is clever enough to swap the devices to buy more time, it won’t be possible without extending the screen time limit.

While you can set the usage limit for the apps, you can also block or restrict the application usage. Microsoft also enables you to set filters for your child’s browsing. Android currently offers the facility but Microsoft mentioned that they’re working on introducing the feature to iOS devices as well.

You’ll be amazed to know that the app can also restrict the usage of your digital cards, until or unless you accept to purchase anything via email confirmation.

Another worthy feature introduced by the Family Safety app is exchanging your location with the family members. It’ll soon be adding a feature that’ll notify the family members regarding one’s movement. The feature can only be used by Office 365 subscribers.

All parents worry about their child’s online habits as they can get connected to people they don’t know, or access information that is not healthy. Here are the five advantages of using the Family Safety app to give your kids enough independence along with keeping an eye on their activities.

Look for the Weekly Activity Report

Microsoft Family Safety app sends out weekly information about the digital use of your kid. This is an excellent way of being informed about your kid’s activities and browsing content. This is also an ice-breaker to start a conversation and learn about the routine of your children.

Restrict Screen Time for Games

Kids spend a lot of time on their devices during the vacation or weekends, rather than completing their home-work or doing productive assignments. The Family Security app lets you set screen time for your kid’s gaming applications, which helps them focus more on their studies. You can also extend the screen time if they request the same or you want to give more flexibility to them.

Set up Search Filters

One of the most fearful thoughts is your kids knowingly or unknowingly searching for the content that is not fit for them. It’s time to relax as Microsoft app offers you to set boundaries or put search filters to your children’s browsing activities. You can give access to kid-friendly websites and block others.

Get Confirmation Email for Purchase Activities

Online transactions are a bit too surprising when it’s done without your consent. Microsoft app has a great way to deal with the same. The Family Security app lets you set up an email system that notifies and asks for your confirmation before purchasing. You can deny or accept to make a transaction online whenever your kids want to make a purchase.

Stay Connected With Your Family Members

The app offers you a location-sharing feature that’ll help you view the location of your family members. Unlike any other applications, the Microsoft Family Safety app doesn’t sell your data to any third-party apps, thus; it keeps your information secure.
