New Air Quality Sensor from SGX Sensortech

SGX Sensortech has produced a new intelligent AQS (Air Quality Sensor) to help make it hassle free when it comes to monitoring air quality. The VZ-87 air quality module will make it easier to monitor the quality of air within cars, homes, workplaces and other environments.

More and more people are becoming interested in the quality of air we breathe without compromise. This includes their workplaces, homes, schools and outside environments. The main contributor to poor air quality is different low boiling point gases. These are gases known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are emitted during industrial or combustion processes as well as being produced by human metabolism. There is now a lot of evidence showing that VOCs are a contributing factor in respiratory diseases, and this means there are healthcare costs are associated with them.

SGX Sensortech’s new VZ-87 air quality sensor has been designed to make it simple to detect these VOCs within environments such as cars, homes and workplaces. The sensor provides quick responses to changes in different VOC levels and general air quality. This can be done thanks to innovative metal oxide semiconductor chemistry and a micro-electromechanical structure. The sensor is a low power module that includes a highly advanced processing algorithm for a number of outputs including digital, analogue and pulse-width modulated. It also provides calibration free operation as it automatically compensates for small changes in sensor output over time.

This is just the first module of a new range of air quality modules. The range will continue to develop innovative features to help monitor air conditions in many different environments.
