Networking for Business: How to Promote Your Wedding Makeup Artist Business by Networking

by Alex Whalley Consultant

Networking is the art of getting to know people and building relationships with them. You do not need to be the most outgoing person in the world to be successful at networking. However, in the event you need to have a successful wedding makeup artist business networking is a key skill to create. Christopher Hart

Take it step at a time. Start with the people you know: your relatives and friends, people you work with, and people you meet in social settings,

Christopher Hart Speak to people in every single place you go. Build up relationships. Strike up a conversation and use FORM (speak about their relatives, their occupation, and their recreation) this way you'll know whether they suit your profile of an ideal customer! Then give your message: let people know that you are in business and what you need to offer. You can always say "it may not be for you but do you know someone who may have an interest in what I must offer?"

Networking Events

Asking for Referrals

In the event you are new to an area then attending networking events may work for you. The purpose of networking events is to get known. Don't use them to hand out your business cards to everyone there. You come across as pushy and put people off finding out more about you. Again your aim is to build relationships with people. Get to know them and as mentioned earlier use FORM.

The better you become at providing a fabulous and unique experience for your customers the less you need to 'sell' your services. Your customers will do that for you. A business built and maintained through referral marketing is the final objective. Don't forget to ask for referrals and you could even offer something of value in exchange for names and details of potential customers. Provide an exceptional service and customers are more likely to need to share these with you. Christopher Hart

Give Talks and Demonstrations to Local Women's Groups

Generate interest in your makeup artistry business by giving talks and makeup demonstrations to local women's groups. Leave behind business cards and speak to those attending about what you do and 'who they know' who might have an interest in what you do!

Create the art of networking. Let it become a natural extension of your every day life. It is much simpler, in the event you are not outgoing to create a conversational style with everyone you meet than 'going out to network'. Enjoy getting to know people. Build relationships and grow a successful wedding makeup artist business.
