Nature Park Cape Kamenjak
The narrow peninsula of the Kamenjak nature park is located in the southernmost part of Istria. The nearby settlements include the popular tourist resort of Medulin and the villages of Premantura and Banjole. The cape's coastline is an exciting sailing destination. Two marinas (Veruda and Pomer) provide the necessary facilities for boat storage and yacht charter.
Explore
the numerous coves, beaches and islets of the Kamenjak Cape. The
untouched nature of the beaches provides the ideal scenery for
sunbathing and swimming. There are some beaches covered in pebbles,
but the coastline is mostly rocky. Secluded coves with crystal clear
sea and cliffs are great destinations for a relaxing vacation.
Diving enthusiasts frequently visit the Cape Kamenjak because of the impressive underwater world. The waters of the cape provide shelter for many endangered species, including bottlenose dolphin, monk seal, sea cucumber, loggerhead sea turtle and seahorse. The best place for sport fishing is located in Albanež cove, near the south end of peninsula. The nature park is also a popular destination for windsurfing. The southern end of the cape is especially attractive for the experienced surfers. Other sports activities in Cape Kamenjak include trekking and mountain-biking.
Discover
the charming islets of Porer and Fenoliga. The Porer lighthouse was
built in the 19th
century and is a beautiful example of architecture from the
Austro-Hungarian period.
Fenoliga is an uninhabited island in the vicinity of Porer. The islet was declared a paleontological reserve. The remnants of dinosaurs can be found in many places on the island. The south side of Fenoliga boasts numerous sites of dinosaur footprints.
The islet of Fenoliga is only accessible by boat. Charter a yacht and visit the beautiful Medulin bay and other places in the vicinity of Pula, such as Brijuni islands and the towns of Poreč and Rovinj.
