Packers
and movers are a necessary evil of moving. They can be quite expensive, but
they can also save you a lot of time and hassle. If you're on the fence about
whether to hire movers or not, here are six things you should do before they
arrive to help make the process as smooth as possible.
1. Take Out Anything You Prefer to Pack Yourself - You probably have some goods that you don't want anyone else to touch. Perhaps you don't want your valuable jewelry or personal effects handled by packers. Now is the moment to separate all of your valuables, mementos, documentation, and other items for self-packing.
2. Label All Of Your Boxes: This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's so important. Not only will it help keep things organized during the moving but will also enable you to find the right things that you have labeled.
3. Separate Essential Items: Sort through your belongings and
decide what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of. This will help
make the moving process go much smoother.
4. Pack Your Essentials Carefully: Toiletries, clothes, important
documents, etc. These items should go into a suitcase or boxes that you can
easily take with you when the movers arrive.
5. Prepare List of Items: Make a list of all the items that
need to be moved and note which rooms they will be going in. This will help the
movers to make unpacking easier for that same room.
6. Clear Out Your Old Space: This includes packing up all of
your belongings and getting rid of any trash or excess furniture. Make sure
your new space is ready.
Whether
it is long distance moving or short distance moving, you need to do work to make
this better and easy.
