Most Popular Mileage Bikes in India
by William Woods BloggerIndia is home to the most significant
number of two-wheelers in the world. A major chunk of the Indian working
population use motorcycles to commute to their workplace daily. According to a
recent survey, the most common expectation of an Indian commuter from their
bike is the mileage of the bike. Of course, maintenance costs and performance
also add to the list, but mileage is the primary concern for daily riders. In
the early 2000s, Hero Honda Splendors and Bajaj commuter motorcycles used to
rule the commuter market. Now, there are plenty of other options available if
you are looking to buying a mileage bike
under Rs. 70000 to Rs. 80000.
●
Honda
CB Shine SP: Top model of the new Shine carries an ex-showroom price of around
Rs. 68000. Honda Shine is an old player of the commuter market, and the Shine
SP comes loaded with new technical features. It has a 124.73 CC engine and
delivers a power of 10.30 PS@7500 rpm. Honda claims a mileage of 65 Kmpl with
this bike.
●
Bajaj
Pulsar 125: The new Pulsar 125 is a new entrant in the market; it intends to
lure the medium budget customers who want a sporty looking bike. It has a 125
CC engine and five-speed transmission. It also sports single-channel ABS as the
primary safety feature. If you are looking for a dependable mileage bike under Rs. 80000, this can be a great choice.
●
Bajaj
Platina 100 and 110: Platina is a household name in the Indian suburbs. The
popularity of this bike is intact even after a decade after
its initial launch. The Platina is powered by a 102 CC engine and delivers 7.9
PS@7500 rpm. Self-start model is priced around Rs. 50000 in most Indian states.
Bajaj Platina also comes with a 110 CC engine, with a slightly higher price
tag. Both the Platinas promise a whooping 104 Kmpl of mileage.
●
Hero
HF Deluxe: The HF Deluxe succeeded its successful predecessor, the Hero Honda
CD Deluxe. It has maintained the legacy of the former Deluxe in terms of specs
and performance. The HF Deluxe is packed with a 97.2 CC engine and delivers
8.36PS@8000rpm. It also features a maintenance-free battery and is available in
kick-start and self-start variants. The HF Deluxe has a kerb weight of 113 kg, which
makes it easier for the riders to ride and corner on Indian roads. The
ex-showroom price of the top variant is around Rs. 51000.
● Hero Splendor Plus: It would be
unfair if we are talking about mileage bikes and no one mentions the Splendor.
Splendor was the king of Indian roads in the first decade of the 21st century.
There were many reasons for the popularity of this bike like the surprising
mileage, low maintenance, cheap spares, large number of service centres and of
course the low cost. Hero upgraded the Splendor to the plus variant but they
haven't stopped producing the former. Hero Splendor Plus sports a 97.2 CC
engine and delivers 8.36@ 8000 rpm. Splendor Plus has a proven mileage of 80
Kmpl in the standard riding conditions.
