Morzine – A Ski Slope for Every Skill Level

by Lisa Jeeves Author
Most skiers or snowboarders booking a holiday will be doing so as part of a group. Whether they be workmates, family members, close friends or partners, chances are the planning of this type of break will inevitably end in a situation where many people from different skill levels find themselves together in the same ski chalet. Morzine, for instance, is renowned as a ‘family’ resort, so it is likely that most of its visitors will be travelling with small children for whom it will be the first time skiing.

Sometimes, this does pose a problem. While most resorts nowadays are equipped to accommodate complete beginners, there do remain those where the slopes are more suited for someone who has been honing their craft for a number of years, as opposed to someone for whom this is the first time inside a ski chalet. Morzine inserts itself in the other group – the one where, regardless of age or skill level, everyone will find at least one area to suit them.

In fact, aside from a great place for families to book a ski chalet, Morzine is also a remarkably balanced resort, performing adequately or above average in every area of the winter holidaymaking experience. Beginners, for example, will find any of the local schools competent enough to teach them the basics, with the added perk of one of them being run by Brits. So if your children, partner or friends are not well-versed in French, they can take solace in the existence of this school! Advanced sportspeople, on the other hand, will perhaps find the slopes a touch basic, but still challenging enough that they do not find themselves bored. Freestylers and snowboarders will also enjoy the dedicated parks and the British-run snowboarding school.

Where the resort truly shines, however, is in what it offers to intermediate skiers. For those not confident enough to take on the bigger slopes, but for whom this is no longer the first time staying in a ski chalet, Morzine offers a wonderful array of beautifully balanced slopes, at once accessible and challenging, in which to perfect their skills. There are in excess of 250 runs of this type across the region, some stretching as far as seven miles, which are sure to delight mid-level and hobbyist skiers.

It is clear, then, that one of the main strengths working in this delightful resort's favour is its all-around character, which ensures no class of skier is left dissatisfied with their resort experience.
