Monitoring Liquid Level With in a Chemical or Water Holding Tank With Liquid Level Transmitter

by Cole Michael Industrial Equipment Analyst

When customers are trying to monitor liquid level within a chemical or water holding tank they will incorporate a liquid level sensor, or liquid level transmitter. It will monitor the liquid level in the chemical or water holding tank either continuously or it can act as a liquid level switch.

The customer must first decide which type of liquid level transmitter would work best within their chemical application, are they looking to monitor exactly how much chemical is in their chemical tank or would they like to control a pump at a certain liquid level? Once they decide which type of liquid level sensor they would like to incorporate into their process they can select the best technology for the liquid level transmitter.

The 100-series submersible level transmitter / level sensor is a continuous level transmitter that sits on the bottom of the chemical holding tank and monitors the liquid level continuously. It will provide the customer with a 4-20mA output to communicate the continuous liquid level to a remote display or controller.

The 100-series submersible level transmitter / liquid level sensor is offered in PVC, PP, PVDF and 316SS which enables customers to utilize it virtually in any chemical tank or water tank. It also features FEP Teflon coated cable which will hold up even in the most corrosive media applications. It is not influenced by foam, vapour, turbulence, or condensation which makes it a much better selection for chemicals that produce vapour than an ultrasonic level transmitter.

A local chemical distributor was looking for a solution for tank level measurement within a wide variety of different chemicals and they were using ultrasonic. However, the ultrasonic would work in some applications but would be unreliable in many other chemical tank applications. They have now standardized on the 100-series submersible level transmitter / level sensor which caters to any chemical tank application that they have, even the most aggressive Medias like HCL acid.

Many industries are using liquid level sensor for their processes because Levelpro sells outstanding equipment that is sure not to fail with corrosive mediums. Icon process Controls also recommends the PLF liquid level switch for every tank to ensure that there is never an over fill which can be bad for the customer and the end user. If you are working in relevant industry and you feel that liquid level switch could be a solution for you, find out the answers without wasting any further time.
