Prime Minister #NarendraModi on Tuesday (October 11) dedicated the

first phase of the Sri Mahakal Lok Corridor project in Ujjain to the nation.

The entire temple complex has been developed to provide world-class

facilities to tourists at the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. An

expenditure of Rs.856 crore has been spent on the construction of its

first phase. It has been named #Mahakaleshwar Temple Corridor

Shri Mahakal Lok is the dream project of the Chief Minister of the state,

#ShivrajSinghChouhan. After the opening of the corridor, the darshan

system in the temple can be streamlined. The construction of this

corridor has been done keeping in mind the next 50 years. The newly

constructed corridor of the Mahakal temple is built on 108 pillars, the

entire 910 meter Mahakal temple will rest on these pillars. Mahakavi

Kalidasa's epic poem Meghdoot beautifully presents the concept of

Mahakala Vana, bringing it to reality hundreds of years later. Two grand

gateways – Nandi Gate and Pinaki Gate – have been constructed for the

corridor.

The more than 900 meter long '#MahakalLok' corridor stretches around

the old Rudra Sagar lake, the official said. The Rudra Sagar lake has been

revived as part of a project to redevelop the area around the worldfamous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas here

Mahakaleshwar One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country is installed here

in the Mahakaleshwar temple and is visited by a large number of

devotees from all over the country. Two grand entrances- Nandi Dwar

and Pinaki Dwar have been constructed for the corridor. This corridor

leads to the entrance of the temple and offers scenic views along the

way. 108 pillars have been built in the newly constructed corridor of the

Mahakal temple, the entire 910 meter Mahakal temple will rest on these

pillars.

Mahakal Van, beautifully envisioned in Mahakavi Kalidasa's epic

Meghdoot, built at a cost of Rs.316 crore, has become a reality after
