Rather than putting networks on the cloud, most companies would rather connect to Windows Azure. This type of connection is called hybrid network connectivity and is becoming more popular every day. It is done by connecting a virtual net from a local network to Azure. However, setting up this type of connected network is easy for someone who is familiar with IP, default gateways, and subnetting.
Before setting up your network in Microsoft Azure managed hosting, you need:

- An IP address for your VPN device
- Registered VPN configurable device

Designing a Network for Site-to-Site Connectivity

Step 1. Select “New” to “Network Services” to “Virtual Network” and finally to “Custom Create.”
Step 2. Type the name of your network in the space provided and select the region you are located.
Step 3. Type your DNS name, however, you can leave this blank if you want  http://bit.ly/microsoft-azure-managed-hosting to fill it in automatically.
Step 4. Select “Configure site-to-site VPN”
Step 5. Type your VPN device’s information in the space provided
Step 6. Type your virtual network’s information in the space provided.
Step 7. Once you type in your subnets, type in your virtual network’s gateway subnet
Step 8. Select “Next”
Step 9. Select your network and go to the “Dashboard”
Step 10. Select “Create Gateway.” Following this, you can configure your VPN device using the Gateway IP address on the screen.

Unlike, point-to-site Azure connectivity, site-to-site connectivity is much more efficient and faster. Although this makes sharing data easier than ever, you will need a shared access key to the network. Apart from point-to-site connectivity, you will not longer have to download and install a certificate on the devices you want to connect virtually.

Hopefully, this detailed guide could offer you a better understanding on connecting your network via Microsoft Azure managed hosting. With more technologies taking over the market, the key step to any business succeeding is adapting to new connectivity and storage options.
