Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class – The Modern Luxury Midsize SUV

The Mercedes Benz GLE-Class is a 5-door, 5/7-seat SUV that was released in 2015 by Daimler and was formerly known as the Mercedes Benz M-Class. The 2nd generation GLE (4th generation M-Class) (W167) was released in 2019 with a new platform, known as the MHA. The GLE is available in five models: the AMG GLE 53, AMG GLE 63 S, GLE 350, GLE 450, and GLE 580 with standard 4Matic all-wheel drive except for the GLE 350.

Interior and Exterior

The GLE 450 cabin offered a luxurious and comfortable interior with great Nappa leathers and natural grain wood trim as well as an adjustable seat, steering wheel, and pedals. Other features include 4-zone automatic climate control, massaging seats, heated and cooled front and rear seats, heated door panel, heated and cooled cupholders, heated center console, and power second-row side window shades. 

The GLE 450 has a stylish C-pillar behind the tailgate and wrap-around rear window glass with a Mercedes emblem on the grille. The GLE 450 has a pair of 12.3-inch screens, with a digital instrument panel, and the MBUX infotainment screen. The MBUX infotainment system features advanced voice controls, navigation, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto WiFi, USB ports, and a wireless charging pad. Storage areas include the center bin, door pockets, a 943-liter boot with a flat load floor that can be expanded up to 2120-liters, and folding rear seats.

The Mercedes Benz GLE 450 is equipped with the Driver Assistance Package Plus which consists of emergency call service, driver monitoring system, blind-spot warning, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking. Also, include Pre-Safe Impulse Side, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Comprehensive Driver Assistance Package Plus, and semi-autonomous parking assistance.


The Mercedes Benz GLE has several petrol and diesel engine options including a turbocharged 3.0L straight-6 petrol engine producing 362 hp, with an additional 21 hp produced by the 48V mild-hybrid system. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 11 km/l, 0-100km/h sprint of 5.7 seconds, and a top speed of 257 km/h. And a turbocharged 2.0L straight-4 diesel engine producing 241 hp, with average fuel consumption of 14 km/l, 0-100km/h sprint of 7.2 seconds, and a top speed of 240 km/h.
