by GoMedii Technologies Health Consultant
The heart is a very strong warrior, but with increasing age, there is a risk of its weakening. So it is important to always keep this strong warrior strong. If we talk about heart disease, menopause, and heart disease have a very deep relationship.

What is Menopause?

Menopause is a period that every woman has to face her growing age. Most women have it at the age of 49 to 52 years. The absence of periods for 12–24 consecutive months is called menopause. In menopause, estrogen and progesterone hormones in the woman's body stop. Many women also experience physical and emotional symptoms during this time

  • Fatigue
  • Sudden fever
  • dizziness
  • Dryness in vagina
  • Not sleeping properly
  • Mood Swing
  • Weight gain
  • Excess of Urine

How is menopause associated with heart disease?

It is quite common in patients coming to me that there is less estrogen hormone in their body. This is because the estrogen hormone stops during menopause. Estrogen hormone protects women from heart diseases. Due to the lack of estrogen hormone, there is a possibility of increasing the amount of fat in the blood of women. This change causes disturbances in the woman due to heart disease and circulatory system. For example, the possibility of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, and heart disease

How to take care of the heart in menopause too?

I only recommend changing my lifestyle to patients suffering from menopause problems coming to me. I believe that if humans change their lifestyle then more than half the problem will be over. During menopause, you can take care of your heart by following these few tips-

Give priority to health

You should take care of your health first. Therefore you should get your annual checkup done. Keep the blood pressure and cholesterol test constant. If you are suffering from diabetes or high blood pressure etc. then treat it in the initial stage, so that your body can fight better.

Quit smoking, lethal

Smoking is more fatal for women than men. Women who smoke are at higher risk of heart diseases. Such women experience heart disease symptoms sooner than women who do not smoke. So if you are smoking then quit. Find ways to help you quit smoking. Stand firm on your resolutions.

Focus on diet and exercise

You should always take care of your food. Eating a low-fat diet reduces the risk of heart diseases. Also, pay attention to your regular exercise. Do exercises that keep your heart healthy.

Say 'no' to tension

Tension and depression are fatal to your heart. So it is beneficial for you to work on your stress and mood swings. Take care of your heart and say tension in your lifestyle.

Learn from family history

It is important to know your family history about diseases like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. This can be helpful for you. Because sometimes heart disease is hereditary. The doctor will treat you according to your family history.

This is prevention, but your food is most important. For that our fellow Senior Nutrition Therapist Meenal Shah will tell you what diet you can take during menopause.

What diet should women eat in menopause?

Meenal Shah says that "First you start taking Menopause Diet". Taking a menopause diet will help you reduce or eliminate menopause symptoms. With this, you will be safe from heart disease. The sooner you make the diet mentioned by me a part of your plate, the more it will be good for you in the future.

Calcium

Include plenty of milk products in your diet. Apart from this, eat foods rich in calcium such as sesame, soybeans, ragi and nutritious foods like - juice, whole grains, etc.

Iron

Iron garden cress is found in seeds (Halim), black raisins, leafy green vegetables, and chicken liver. I always recommend that you eat foods rich in iron. For better absorption of iron, take vitamin C-rich foods like lemon and orange juice. Avoid taking calcium and fiber-rich food with iron-rich food, as it reduces the absorption of iron.

Fiber

You can include fiber-rich foods in your diets, such as raw or cooked vegetables, cut fruits including peels, nuts, and seeds. It will take care of your heart during menopause. Fiber is a panacea for heart disease.

Eat fruits and vegetables

You should include at least 3 to 5 portions of fruits and 2 to 4 cups of vegetables in your diet. Eat fruits and vegetables daily.

Water

Water is a medicine for every disease. It is necessary to drink about 5 liters of water throughout the day for the best results. Apart from this, you should keep drinking any other healthy beverages. The medicine for heart disease is also water. The more water you drink, the healthier you will be.
