The Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the top automobile manufacturing company of India is entering the compact SUV segment of the Indian market with the Vitara Brezza. The car unveiled during the 2016 Indian Auto Show is the first offering from the MSIL in 2016. The car is expected to be launched on 8^th March and the delivery to be started on 21^st March. The bookings for the Vitara Brezza are open for a down-payment of Rs 10,000-21,000.

 

Variants and prices

The Vitara Brezza is expected to be launched in diesel variants only initially. The conventional names will be used for the trims. The variants to be launched are the LDi, the LDi (O), the VDi, the VDi (O), the ZDi and the ZDi+. All the variants will have 5-speed manual transmissions. Petrol variants including automatic models will be launched later. The Brezza is expected to be priced competitively in the B segment. The speculative price tag is Rupees 6 to 8.5 lakh. Exteriors

The Brezza built on the Swift platform is the first MSIL vehicle to be designed and developed in India. A lot of SUV-like features can be seen on the body. A sober looking front grille with horizontal slats, a large honeycomb air dam, projector type automatic head lamps (only for ZDi+ variant), integrated turn indicators on the front bumper, a tall bonnet, a shoulder line running parallel to the window glasses, angular tail lamps and a spare wheel mounted tail gate are among the expected features.

Interiors

During the Indian auto show the MSIL has released the details of the SUV. The cabin of the Vitara Brezza is as good as that of a posh Maruti vehicle. A lot of comfort and safety features are provided inside the cabin. 2 air bags, tilt steering column, ABS and EBD are provided for all the variants. The VDi trim has rear parking sensors. The top ZDi variants will have rear parking cameras, keyless entry, cruise control, an automatic AC, automatic projector type head lamps, SmartPlay infotainment system with a 7” screen and Bluetooth connectivity.

Engine specifications and mileages

The Brezza diesel variants will be powered by the 4 cylinder 1.3 litre Fiat engine which is powering the hatchback Baleno. The 89 bhp and 200 NM torque engine is expected to give mileages of 19 kmpl in the city and 23.5 kmpl on the highways.
