On the surface, Marc Potter, the founder of the Sun Salute Yoga School could easily pass off for a typical Australian surfer. It is true that he has been all of that with additional interests in swimming, horse riding, diving, etc., but he also has tried a wide variety of jobs which has ranged from a photographer, graphic artist, cameraman for Channel 9 in Australia, deliveryman, and a gardener and landscaper among others.

Spiritual Quest

This all-round sportsperson has a spiritual side to him, when he discovered the benefits of meditation at the comparatively young age of 17. Since then, his quest led him to the path of yoga, the ancient 5000-year old practice. After thoroughly studying yoga, he then began teaching it to like-minded individuals who were trying to find physical and mental well-being, which then translated to a full-fledged yoga school, The Sun Salute Yoga School in Claremont, Western Australia. Marc Potter’s courses have become very popular because he has taken the best from the different branches of yoga and brought it together for those struggling to learn the complex positions in yoga.

Equal Opportunity

Updating his own experience about yoga, he stressed on the Mysore style, which he had being following for over 20 years. This was very well-received by his students of all ages, as it was easy to understand and follow. He tried to change this style by promoting Ashtanga Yoga in 2012, but he has since dropped that from his repertoire and came up with the Kripa sequence. One reason for Marc Potter’s popularity is that his charges for learning and practicing yoga are not hard on one’s pocket. For just Australian $ 49, yoga practitioners can avail of specialist yoga teachers for 30 days, especially the Early Morning Vinyasa program on the beach, which is a firm favorite of many working individuals, mums and dads, young children, and even retired people.

New Horizons

Marc Potter’s philosophy is that once an individual is taught the basics of yoga in his classes, his students, young and old, can continue doing these easy exercises anywhere they are comfortable. However, if they feel that they are ready for more advanced yoga lessons, then Sun Salute Yoga has teachers who can teach the more complicated lessons, based on individual adaptability. Hopefully, these advanced lessons will improve their well-being and health as well as their mental and physical strength. Besides these relaxation techniques, Marc Potter is also knowledgeable in Hatha Yoga, which consists of advanced breathing control and physical exercises, Reiki, meditation, stress management, and holistic health techniques. The response to his yoga school has been tremendous, and he is seriously considering opening up branches in other Australian states.
