The National Institute of Fashion Technology is popularly known as NIFT. It is an fashion institution similar to NID, that provides a wide range of courses in regard to design, management and technology. The prestigious institution was established in 1986, with its head office situated at New Delhi. Various centre’s of NIFT are set up across 14 states of India. Fashion enthusiasts throng in to the institute for their degrees in fashion technology. It offers a four year bachelor degree (graduation) and a two year masters degree (post-graduation) in the field of Design, Management and Technology. Aspiring candidates can fulfill their dream of becoming a designer by taking admission to any one of the NIFT institutions spread across various cities of the country. Admission to NIFT can be availed via appearing for the entrance examinations. The NIFT entrance exams are held all over India every year. It is conducted in all the top cities of India. The forms are available on paper as well as online.

In a nutshell, NIFT has three written tests based on GAT (General Ability Test), CAT (Creative Ability Test) and MAT (Managerial Ability Test). There is an eligibility criteria to seek admission to this leading institution. For the undergraduate programme, the minimum qualification in terms of education is 10 + 2 from any recognized State/ Central Board of Secondary Examination or any recognized national/ international board of examination, and by age, between 17 to 23 years. There is no particular age required to pursue a post graduation programme in NIFT. However, as for the education qualification, an Undergraduate Degree/  Undergraduate Diploma/ Diploma/ B.F.Tech/ B.E./ B.Tech from any recognized university or institute in the country is required.

The NIFT entrance exam is not a cake walk. It requires proper focus and preparation. There are various institutes in and around Delhi and in other states that provide coaching classes for NIFT aspirants. The syllabus is laid out and accordingly the coaching classes are conducted. There are classes held every month by various institutes. Some even propose crash courses. It is evident that very year a huge number of candidates appear for the NIFT entrance exams. The NIFT Entrance exam for the year 2015 was conducted in the month of February. The forms were duly submitted on January 2015. Thereby, it is recommended to be aware of the release date and the last date of the NIFT Entrance Forms submission process. Late submissions are plainly rejected. To inspire and encourage the many fashion enthusiasts, some of the eminent designers of India, namely Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Ritu Beri, Nikita Anand, Manish Arora and many more are alumni’s of this NIFT.
