Maintenance Tips for Timber Hardwood Flooring

by William ABBEY Business marketing

If there is a competition among different flooring options, timber hardwood flooring would surely emerge as a winner. This is nothing like good luck, but because of the characteristics that it has. The floors are certainly elegant, good-looking, add to the charm of the area, low in maintenance and have several other attributes too.

The only problem is that despite being low demanding in maintenance, the owners should pay undivided attention towards this aspect. Doing this would ensure that they continue looking like new for a really long time and serve unconditionally. What are the steps that can be taken in this regards? The answers to this question are mentioned below.

Vacuuming the timber hardwood flooring every week

The most robust step a recommended by the experts is vacuuming the entire area at least once in a week. This would remove all kinds of negative agents away from them. Once under the foot, dirt acts like a sandpaper to fade away the shine or the newness of the installation. Therefore, it becomes imperative to remove it and what would be the better way to get rid of it than vacuuming it effectively.

If you don’t feel like using it, another option is conducting good quality dust mopping with microfiber sweepers or mops.

Avoid hair spray and furniture polish

Another point to take note of is that you need to avoid spills of several things out of which shoe polish, hair spray are the most dangerous. Both these things can really cloud away the finish of the floor and therefore, it is crucial to wipe them as soon as possible using a damp cloth. You can also use non-ammonia cleaning solutions for in-depth cleaning.

Avoid water or dampness

One of the riskiest things for timber hardwood flooring is the water or dampness and even the slightest of dampness can ruin its entire look. Moreover, it can actually penetrate deep in the used timber for decking and stain it right from inside.

What you can do is close the windows during overcast conditions to keep it completely dry and free from water. If there are plant pots inside the home, you can put trays under them to prevent the water from reaching the floors.

Removing the residue using no wax wood floor cleaner

Another very important step that you can take is wiping up every small spill or dirt immediately using the cleaner. This is important as the dirt can damage the timber for decking and its finish as well.

Lastly, you need to ensure that the high-traffic zones are protected using high-quality rugs. This is because walking on the same area again and again can cause premature wearing down and make it look dirty. You can use nice-looking throw rugs as they are the best options around. The only point to see is that they don’t have layers made up of vinyl or rubber as this can trap humidity that is also not a very good thing for timber hardwood floors.
