Mahou Beer: Best among all premium beers
Major brewers across the world know that drinking beer is a fun and almost a must for all social gatherings. Its social acceptability is so high that no party can be complete without it. Considering its demand in parties, the All India Brewers Association (AIBA) has relentlessly been asking all state governments to be sold like FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) products through retail shops.
Not only this, AIBA is also demanding a separate classification of beer from hard drinks or spirits citing the lesser alcohol content. Some states like Maharashtra and Kerala have relaxed norms for beer shops, and soon brewers may find easier norms to come in more states.
Beers have only 5-8 percent of alcohol and so it has gained social acceptability. Currently the Indian beer industry is valued at Rs 25000 crore, it is estimated that around 23 million hector litre beer was sold in the country in the last one year.
Currently this segment is growing at around 6 per cent, which was in the range of 10 to 12 per cent between 2002 to 2012. Higher taxes and limited availability of beer has adversely affected the overall business of beer in India. But the situation may again improve if the demands of AIBA are met.
At present the beer industry pays a tax between 50 per cent to 85 per cent per bottle. Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra have the highest tax slab, while Goa and Ponducherry have it around 50 per cent. It is pertinent to mention here that Telangana tops the list of the highest beer consuming states. Most of the multinationals have their breweries located in the southern region of the country.
Multiple taxes, duty slabs and interstate levies on stock movements have left companies with wafer-thin margins on beer sale. If the tax and duty slabs are restructured, it is almost certain that the beer consumption in India will exponentially rise.
Chilled beers are the most favourite beverages for youths across the country and especially in summer season the demand of this drink registers unexpected growth. This growing trend is known to all big and small companies dealing in beer business.
To offer more variety and quality of a high standard, the Spanish brewing major, Mahou San Miguel has decided to launch its first subsidiary, ‘Mahou India’ outside Spain. This is the first Spanish beer to be established in India.
The beer, brewed at the Mahou India brewery is located in Bhiwandi, Rajasthan and is already available to all the consumers in different states across the country, which is a big summer gift to beer fans. So what are you looking for? Pick your favourite Mahou brand and say CHEERS!
