Without posing a threat to other luxury trains, the Maharaja Express rail network spreads its wings to South India. Its two meticulously planned tours viz; Southern Sojourn and Southern Jewels take you to some of the most breath taking locations, including World Heritage Sites.

Maharajas’ Express started its south-bound tours in September 2017. The tours cover place like Mumbai, Goa, Hampi, Cochin, Mysore, Mahabalipuram, Chettinad, Kumarakom, Chennai, Trivandrum, and other places. The train had conducted a Monsoon Special tour to South India in July the same year.

Since the train arrived on the tracks in March 2010, it has been conducting tours of North India, North West India, and Central India. Tours like Gems of India, Treasures of India, Heritage of India, Indian Splendor, and Indian Panorama provide travelers a spectacular experience in luxury holidays in this part of the world. The train is operated by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Now, with the advent of South India tours, tourists will get an opportunity to explore South India, which is quite a contrast to North India in terms of culture, language, and habits of people. Yet, you cannot compare both parts of India, as both carry unique charm. These are two diverse worlds united into one nation.

Maharaja Express rail service has been giving tourists from various parts of India and the world unmatched royal tours. The train’s clientele usually consists of foreign tourists. They are charmed by the country’s history and heritage and wish to get an essence of the bygone royal era of this land. The train beautifully showcases India’s maharaja lifestyle in its décor, hospitality, and tour arrangements.

While doing so, it also keeps up with the modern times. That’s why you can find wi-fi internet service, 24x7 paramedic and air ambulance facilities, electronic safes and individual climate control systems in each suite and cabin, on-board water filtration plant, pneumatic hydraulic suspension system for a smoother ride, CCTV cameras, and other such hi-tech facilities on the train. The amalgamation of ancient royalty and modern technology is captivating.

The Maharaja train symbolizes royal lifestyle of Indian kings and queens and, at the same time, is an epitome of modern luxury.

Train Maharaja redefines rail travel in India. Earlier, Indian Railways was infamous for overcrowded trains, chaotic platforms, unhygienic food, dirty trains, hassling journeys, and other such “nightmares.” Today, the railway scene is undergoing a paradigm shift in each aspect.

The arrival of luxury trains on Indian rail tracks has added an element of interest and a desire to take rail as a means of transportation.

The icing on the cake happened with the arrival of the Maharajas’ Express. It emerged as the most luxurious and expensive train of India. It has put India under the spotlight of tourism. The tourism industry, no doubt, has received a boost and, now, with the Maharaja train taking a tour of the South, the Southern Railways is ready to welcome another wave of luxury on the tracks.

Are you ready for the luxury?
