Loving Phuket's Nature and Culture

by Rohi S. Travel
It is not only for the pristine and world-famous Phuket beaches that tourists visit the beautiful island of Phuket. Aside from these breathtaking destinations, people spend their Phuket holidays exploring the beauty of the island's nature and discovering the richness of its culture. After all, Phuket cannot be fully understood just by plunging into its ocean water.

A recommended spot to be impressed by Phuket's nature is Ranong.

For most farangs, Ranong is merely a place frequented for visa runs. But to some, it is indeed one of the most interesting and comfortable places in Southern Thailand.

There is no much architectural magnificence in Ranong but it is filled with lots of natural wonders. The Bald Hill alone is enough to amuse the visitors. Referred to as Thailand's version of Swiss Pasture, the hills have no trees but are covered with lush green grass. It is located along Highway No. 4 and is easily accessed by tourists.

Another natural feature in the area is the Ranong Canyon. It is spectacular and attractive. It was an old mine, but now it is covered with pleasant greeneries. Fronting it is a placid lake which is an ideal subject for landscape photography. There are places allotted for picnics so families and friends will surely enjoy the place.

There are more natural spectacles in Ranong. But aside from these, the place is also known for its lively people. The locals of the area are friendly and hospitable. They do make sure that visitors will feel at ease.

When it comes to culture, Phuket presents its heritage through the help of the Phuket Orchid Garden and Thai Village, farangs are given the opportunity to understand the rich and stunningly beautiful heritage of Southern Thailand through presentations.

Performances are usual in the Thai Village. Performers render interesting dance productions which depicts the different aspects of the daily living of the people in the island.

Wearing colorful and meticulous costumes, beautiful Thai women present different classical dances of Thailand. Other performances to awe the audience are sword fighting, long pole fighting and Thai boxing - all these performed like dances.

The Orchid Garden, on the other hand, covers a total land size of 1,600 square meters. It flaunts a variety of exotic orchid species which are certainly a fete to the eyes. Colorful and definitely breathtaking, the orchid farm is a perfect sight for anyone who loves flowers.

Another interesting thing about this Phuket attraction is that there are elephants around the place. In them, visitors can ride around the compound making their Phuket holiday a lot more memorable and fun!

Indeed, the place does not just show the culture of Thailand. It also shows the natural beauty of the place.

The island of Phuket is much more than its beaches. It is home to a lot of beautiful opportunities and sceneries that would certainly inspire people to love Phuket's nature and culture more.
