Live your cricket fantasy with online games

by Jenny Jonson Writer

The game of cricket has a rich history spanning from the 16th century to the present day, where international matches were played since 1844. The first ever international cricket game was between the USA and Canada in 1844. India, West Indies and New Zealand became Test nations before the Second World War and Pakistan soon afterwards. Test cricket was the first format of the game with long over matches and to this day remains the highest format. The latest to join this bandwagon is fantasy cricket.

Test matches were long over matches and often took 5 days or more to get over. But as competition grew, there was a greater demand for a shorter format which people can enjoy quickly without having to wait for results for 5 days. This led to the advent of one day cricket, which was a restricted 50 overs game. Soon came in t-20 with a more challenging 20 overs game and became a huge hit amongst the audience. Though people loved the game, they couldn't participate in it which led to the advent of fantasy cricket in recent times.

Forming your own virtual team by selecting real life players where your points are determined by the player’s actual performance on field, was an adrenaline rush for cricket fans. It gave them a chance to live out their cricket fantasy with real players and battling teams. Many online portals exploited this interest and growth, to come up with different formats and rules for this virtual version of cricket. Gifts, vouchers, cash prizes, merchandize etc. were the winning prizes offered to players.

In order to dabble in this format of the game it is important for the person to have good knowledge of the game and strategy. A person should know which layer is in top form in the game and how they can benefit from him. The aim is to attain maximum points and reach the top of the leader board. You can form your own team and play in cricket fantasy league matches where you can invite people to compete with you. League matches can be started by you or they can be started by someone else to which you are given an invitation.

Your first step is to choose a name for your Fantasy Cricket team. You can create only one team on a particular site. Usually there are a set of rules like no offensive names, changing the name as many times as you want until the first game begins etc. Every player in fantasy cricket has a set of functions and has certain value associated with them. You are given an amount from which you need to make your team.
