Lotus Notes provides emailing operational capabilities but it provides much more from an email client.It includes items like bookmarks, address book, to-do-list, contacts, templates, journals, tasks and more. So, it is more than an email client. It is full package of enterprise email activity that performs its functions very smoothly and quickly. Lotus Notes, a productivity software application, features an access to databases and documents, email client, web browsing, instant messaging and calendaring. This software is the main application that is used to access Lotus Domino server resources. Mostly big enterprises use Lotus Notes to Outlook.It can also be used as an individual application and is available in different versions like 5.0, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 8.0 and 8.5

Learn to Use Lotus Notes Email Application
Following are the steps to Use Email in Lotus Notes Application:
1. Start by selecting the email icon at which is at the top of your welcome page
2. You can also use the first icon that is listed on the left margin of client workspace.
3. Then choose "Create"--"Memo" and address your email by using the suitable fields.
4. Write your message in the body field, and click "Send".
5. To exchange mail with your server you need to open the replicator page and click "Receive Internet Mail".
6. Select "Replicate Selected Database" to start the process.
7. Now, to read the message that you have received you need double-click the message. If you want to respond, then you can view one of the reply actions from the action bar.

Calendaring
1. Start with selecting the calendar icon that is in the top of your welcome page
2. Then, you need to use the second icon that is in the left margin of your Notes 7 client workspace.
3. Email file is linked to calendaring
4. If you want to view your desired dates on the calendar, use the date picker field or scroll your mouse.
5. Now, if you want to make notes and to schedule a meeting for a particular date then click "Schedule a Meeting" from the action bar or you can double-click on the particular date to make notes.
6. If you quickly want to view the basic information, then position your mouse pointer on dates.

Instant Messaging
1. The Instant messaging functions can viewed in the "File" menu of the Lotus Notes 7 client.
2. If you want to view the Instant meetings and chat sessions, then they are only available when Notes 7  has a connection to a Lotus Domino Server. You need to install the Messaging services also.
3. You should consult your system administrator for the configuration parameters of this feature.

Web Browsing
1. Lotus Notes 7 can be configured as an individual web browser
2. Or to launch FIREFOX or Internet Explorer.
3. To start with Web browsing you need to type a URL in the address bar which is located on the top of the Notes 7 client screen.
4. The page that you have requested will load or will launch other browser. It all depends on the settings of your browser preferences.

Databases
1. You need to select the icon of databases that is located in the lower left margin of the Lotus Notes application.
2. You can also browse and select databases locally and on connected servers by choosing "Open" from the "File"--"Database" menu.
3. Actually these notes databases are custom-written applications and usually have their own documentation.
4. After launching you can also consult the "About this database" and "Using this database" options that are in Notes 7 help menu
5. You can take help from any user documentation or help databases that are provided by the application programmer.
