These occasions should be used as teaching opportunities. Take the time to explain the proper words or actions needed to solve any perceived fairness issues.

Attempts to shirk their responsibilities

Parents will be happy to learn that their child is maturing and can take on more responsibilities in the home. It also means the child can be held responsible for their actions or in-actions. Do not be surprised if the child attempts to shirk their responsibilities.

Ask direct questions of the child to remind them about what they should have done. It holds them accountable and provides the reminder the child may need. The child must be taught responsibility early on. Parents must enforce outlined rules consistently to teach this vital life lesson.
