In the world of DC Comics, leather varsity jackets for girls Green Arrow has been called many things: bleeding-heart liberal, millionaire tycoon, philanderer. Thanks to Stephen Amell, who plays the title hero in “Arrow,” the hit new CW series, sex symbol can now be added to that list. As if the billboards that showcase Amell’s six-pack abs weren’t enough, there was further proof at the show’s panel at New York Comic Con in October. During the question-and-answer session, one fan began his query to the actor with “You’re smokin’ hot.” The playful response: “That is not a question.”

During the panel — and also at his “Styled to a T” photo shoot — Amell’s enthusiasm for the show came through loud and clear. He proved his geek cred by asking the audience: “How awesome did Deathstroke look?” plain varsity jackets (For the uninitiated, Deathstroke is one of DC’s deadliest guns for hire.) To prove a different sort of cred, he talked about the workout that results in the killer physique showcased in every episode. For those wanting to try for the same regimen at home, it involves diet, weight vests, parkour, football, swimming and more. Amell also said he’s particularly game to do more stunts, though one of his co-stars, Katie Cassidy, who plays Dinah Laurel Lance, was quick to point out the insurance liabilities. Still, the majority of the physical activity on the screen is real. “We rarely use special effects,” Amell said.

“Smallville,” pink varsity jackets for women which told the story of Clark Kent’s formative years before he became Superman, lasted 10 seasons. Amell tries not to think that far ahead. “I’d be happy with five quality years,” he said. It may take that long to tell the origin story: each episode is split between the hero at home righting wrongs and flashback tales about his alter ego, Oliver Queen, who is stranded on a mysterious island. Amell is a fan of “Breaking Bad,” “Mad Men” and “The Sopranos,” and sees some similarity between Oliver and the lead characters in those series. Over the course of “Arrow,” he promises, fans will see “how a spoiled rich kid could turn into a coldblooded killing machine.” Judging by the ratings so far, viewers are interested.
