Learn the Signs of Overheating and What to do About it
by Coffeyref Refrig Coffey RefrigerationWe all know the dangers of being outside in
the summertime. However, sunburn isn’t the only negative side effect of getting
too hot. In fact, many symptoms of overheating don’t even need to occur
outdoors at all. If your business has not brought in the services of a
technician for commercial air conditioning installation in Kennewick, you are
risking your employees and customers getting too hot inside your establishment.
This is very dangerous and potentially even deadly. The symptoms of this are:
#1 Tingling
Skin. Early symptoms of both heat exhaustion and heat
stroke including a tingling sensation in the skin and goosebumps. If someone
experiences either of these, you can help them avoid heat exhaustion or heat
stroke by immediately cooling off before the symptoms escalate.
#2
Headache. Headaches are a characteristic of both heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat-related headaches can range from dull to
throbbing. Either way, they're a red flag that the body desperately needs to
cool down as soon as possible. If you have been putting off a commercial HVAC
repair in Kennewick and your staff members are complaining of the heat and
getting headaches, this situation may be very serious.
#3
Sudden Fatigue. Sometimes, getting tired is more than
just a lack of coffee! If someone is overcome with exhaustion and says that
their body feels weak, they have already begun to overheat. Along the same
lines, feelings of confusion, agitation, and anxiety are another signal that
the body is well on its way to overheating.
#4
Nausea. You never want anyone to get sick inside your
establishment, but this is especially true if the cause of their sudden
vomiting is more than just a virus. Nausea is a red flag that they are
experiencing heat exhaustion. If it's accompanied by vomiting, that's a sign of
heat stroke. If you suspect that you or someone you're with is at risk for a
heat stroke, seek immediate medical attention. This is now well beyond the
stage of just needing to cool off.
#5
Dizziness. Dizziness is a very recognizable sign of
someone being too hot. If a staff member or customer is complaining of feeling
dizzy, have them sit down right away to lessen the risk of a dangerous fall.
#6
Sweating too much. Everyone sweats when they are hot.
As you scan your premises, do you see many of the people inside fanning
themselves and sweating? This is a sign that it is far too hot inside. No one
will be comfortable eating, shopping, or doing really anything else while they
sweat. They will never visit your business again!
#7 Not
sweating at all. This may sound odd at first. The
truth is that if someone is so hot that they are no longer sweating, this is a
very serious sign. This is called anhidrosis and it effectively shuts down the
body's ability to cool itself off.
