  1. The right to be protected against the marketing of goods, products, or services which are harmful to life and property;


  1. The right to be informed about the quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard, and price of goods, products, or services, as suitable, to protect the consumer against unfair trade practices.  


  1. The right to be assured of access to a variety of goods, products, or services at a reasonable price.


  1. The right to be heard and to be certain that consumer interest will be fairly addressed in a suitable place. 


  1. The right to seek redressal against unfair trade practices or consumer mistreatment, and


  1. The right of consumer awareness.

In the case of violation of the above-mentioned consumer rights, he or she can file a Consumer Complaint on the E-portal or Online Website such as - Shikayat Peti.

The above link is used for filing Online complaints. The consumer should register to file his/her complaints. In the top right corner is an option called ‘User Login’. 


Step 1- Fill out The Registration Form


To finish the Registration form, the consumer should provide information such as their Name, gender, E-mail Id, and password. Then the User Id and password are created.


Step 2- Complete the ‘ Complaint Registration Form


Login with the credentials listed above and go to the complaints registration form. The consumer has to fill up the form with their complaints or grievances by attaching the necessary documents( if available). The consumer can then submit the form after filling it out with due care. 


Step 3- Make a written record of the Unique Number


When your complaint is officially logged on the portal a unique number will be shown on the screen. Then your grievance will be sent to the concerned company, agency, regulator, and ombudsman for a speedy resolution. The portal also gives you the option of checking the status of your complaint in real-time. 


Step 4- Check the status in Real-Time


The consumer can track the status of the complaint in real time after filing their complaint. They can track it on the portal ‘ Track your Grievance’ option. 


The primary objective of this portal is to bring all the sponsors together under one roof which comprises customers, companies, agencies, regulators, ombudsmen, state government agencies, and many more. The portal helps in restoring awareness and advises the customers related to their rights and responsibilities. This online method is less time-consuming compared to offline methods of raising a complaint.
