|Large Om-Aum Brass Wall Hanging|
Aum Brass Wall hanging is the most important syllable in Hindu Ritual chanting. It is the beginning as well as the culmination of every mantra in the divine language of Sanskrit. It is a composite of three different phonetics, namely ‘a’, followed by ‘u’, and finally ‘m’. Contained within the aum is the entire linguistic range of man; as such, chanting aum is to have chanted the Vedas and all of itihasa. A powerful syllable such as the aum is the sounding board of all spoken languages, the pronunciation of which is indispensable to the practice of yoga.
The wall-hanging that you see on this page is the Brahmi symbol for aum. It is sculpted from pure brass and has the characteristic golden sheen of the medium. It is a minimalistic composition, a mere set of strategically juxtaposed curves, with a great deal of meaning. It takes a remarkable degree of skill to fashion something so simple yet so pregnant with meaning. Note the near-perfect ratio and proportion of the curves of the Brahmi letter.
