Sadly, once a patient acquires asthma, it becomes a lifelong condition. In India and the world, the number of patients suffering from asthma is at an all time rise. No medical personnel can give you a guide on how to cure asthma. Depending upon the severity of the disease in you, the treatment and the cure will differ. Besides, what triggers an asthma attack in you ought to be completely different than what triggers an attack in others. Hence, the course of treatment for all patients will be invariably different.

To be able to understand the causes of asthma, you need to be in a position to distinguish between the triggers of asthma and what makes you vulnerable to these triggers. Some people tend to confuse the causes with the triggers and that is when there is a confusion in the treatment plan too. To put it straight, the causes of the asthma are significantly different from the triggers of asthma. Triggers are the things or perhaps conditions that may lead to an asthma attack in the patient. It can be environmental or physical in nature. Dust, tobacco smoke, pollens, virus or excessive exercising are some known things that may precipitate an asthma attack.

To better understand the difference between the two, keep note that had there been no root cause, there would never have been any problem, in your case continuous coughing, troubled breathing, chest pain, etc. There has to be something that is making you susceptible to these triggers. So what really are these causes and how to cure asthma?

There is no direct answer to this question. As a matter of fact, there can several hundreds of factors that can cause asthma in you. Bigger problem here is, that the reason for an asthma attack in you may also be different from the asthma attack in other asthma patients. Some of these causes may be genetic in nature. So, if someone in your blood relations has asthma, chances of you having asthma are more. Besides genes there are some allergies too that may cause asthma. Again, the genes and the allergies are not the only causes of asthma. There are others that are concealed and others that an asthma specialist can explain better.

Specialists divide the treatment of asthma in two broad categories - One being the preventers and the other being the relievers. Preventers are given to keep you away from an asthma attack and the other asthma symptoms and the relievers are given to control the severity during the attack.
