Know about the typical solid handling pumps!

In this article, we are closely going to discuss the SHP, along with SHM, SHS, SHV and SHVT. 

The SHM are horizontal non-clog pumps. They have a single-stage, with single suction along with a back pull-out type design. SHS are vertical non-clog pumps. They are used for wet pit applications. Their pump section is suspended with the help of a column pipe. This pipe also protects the transmission shaft of the water pump.

The SHM are typically used for handling liquids along with solids. They are used in sludge, or suspension, or even the pulpy material in paper industries, waste or sewage that have soft solids in suspension, liquids or viscous liquids and that carry powdered material slurries or fibrous material, or process liquids that are contaminated, like waste from the sugar factory, water carrying gravel, trade liquors, etc. 

The following are the constructional features of typical SHM:

These water pumps might be provided with a column length that goes up to 6.5 m. On the other hand, the SHV are vertical non-clog pumps that are used for dry pit application in a vertical orientation, so that they can be driven by a vertical flange mounted motor that is directly coupled. Apart from this, the SHVT water pumps are those vertical non-clog pumps that are used for dry pit application in vertical orientation, so that they can be driven by a vertical flange mounted motor, but are coupled through transmission shafting. These types of pumps usually operate at 50 Hz. 

Now, let’s talk about the pump casing of this type of water pump.  These water pumps come with an end-suction that comes with a top centerline delivery and a horizontal side delivery as well. Their high-efficiency volute plays its role and helps to provide smooth as well as an unobstructed flow. When we talk about the delivery flange and feet, they are cast integral with the casing of the water pump. A large
inspection opening is available on the casing that comes along with an easily removable cover.
