Kim Kardashian's Face-Shielding Sunglasses Prove She's a Fashion Time Traveler

You know how in time travel movies like Back to the Future people from the past are always totally dumbfounded by the time traveler’s apparel choices? Whether it’s self-lacing sneakers or Fifth Element-style cutout bandage bodysuits, the futuristic being in question always look simultaneously super cool and totally baffling. Which brings us to Kim Kardashian‘s latest look that likewise seems to suggest she’s a being from a galaxy far, far away, or at least wherever it is Daft Punk comes from.

Kim loves taking a fashion risk, and the trendier the better. She’s already demonstrated her ability to take unusual styles once relegated to sex shops, like latex, bondage-inspired straps and sheer mesh, and make them mainstream. But now the reality star is bringing her space-age aesthetic to sunglasses, giving us all a taste of what cutting-edge trend hounds will be coveting for years to come.

For this particular look she wore to film Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the 35-year-old paired patent leather peep toe boots with a paneled cutout skirt, a strappy bra, and one of her favorite sheer Wolford turtlenecks. But all of that’s pretty run-of-the-mill compared to her eyewear, which appear to be a pair of Rick Owens’ Shield sunglasses. Or perhaps at this point, Kim is just so rich she can afford a robot version of herself to attend all of her public appearances in her place.
