Description by single titles:
1. Mister Monday
Breathtaking new magical
adventure series from the author of Sabriel. Seven days. Seven keys. Seven
virtues. Seven sins. One mysterious house is the doorway to a very mysterious
world -- where one boy is about to venture and unlock a number of fantastical secrets.
Arthur Penhaligon is not supposed to be a hero. He is supposed to die an early
death. But then his life is saved by a key shaped like the minute hand of a
clock. Arthur is safe -- but his world is not. Along with the key comes a
plague brought by bizarre creatures from another realm. A stranger named Mister
Monday, his avenging messengers with bloodstained wings, and an army of
dog-faced Fetchers will stop at nothing to get the key back -- even if it means
destroying Arthur and everything around him. Desperate, Arthur escapes to the
mysterious house that has appeared in town -- a house that only he can see.
Maybe there he can unravel the secrets of the key -- and discover his true
fate.
2. Grim Tuesday
Second title in Garth Nix's
gripping new fantasy adventure series. Arthur Penhaligon didn't think he would
ever have to return to the strange house that nearly killed him on Monday --
the house that contains a fantastical and sinister realm inside. But the next
day brings new challenges -- in the form of an enemy named Grim Tuesday, who
threatens the safety of both Arthur's family and his world. Arthur must
retrieve the Second Key from Grim Tuesday in order to save everything -- an
adventure that will force him to steal a Sunship, survive a very weird work
camp, befriend a bearlike spirit and fight the void Nithlings. Even after all
that, he will still have to venture into the scary Far Reaches for an ultimate
showdown.
3. Drowned Wednesday
On the third day, there were
PIRATES! Arthur Penhaligon finds himself on an adventure that will pit him
against pirates, storms, explosions and a vast beast that eats everything it
encounters. Will our unwitting hero be able to find the third part of the Will
and claim the Third Key? No rest for poor Arthur Penhaligon. As Grim Tuesday
ends, he discovers a square of stiff cardboard under his pillow, gilt-edged and
inscribed with the following words: LADY WEDNESDAY Trustee of the Architect and
Duchess of the Border Sea has great pleasure in inviting ARTHUR PENHALIGON to a
Particular Luncheon of Seventeen Removes Transport has been arranged RSVP not
required! It's an invitation he cannot refuse. From hospital room to the high
seas, Arthur finds himself on an adventure that will pit him against pirates,
storms, explosions of Nothing-laced gunpowder, and a vast beast that eats
everything it encounters. Through it all, he is drawn deeper into the central
mystery of the House. Arthur must find the third part of the Will and claim the
Third Key -- not just for himself, but for the millions (if not trillions) who
will suffer if he doesn't. The first step? Surviving life aboard ship on the
Border Sea!
4. Sir Thursday
Get ready for more brilliant
page-turning fantasy from master, Garth Nix. On the fourth day there was war!
Pick up with Arthur Penhaligon as his Keys to the Kingdom adventures continue
in the mysterious House. Following their adventures in the Border Sea, Arthur
and Leaf head for home. But only Leaf gets through the Front Door. Arthur is
blocked because someone -- or something -- has assumed his identity and is
taking over his life. Before Arthur can take action, he is drafted by Sir
Thursday and forced to join the Glorious Army of the Architect. The Army has
its headquarters in the Great Maze, a defensive area of the House. Half of the
Maze has already been dissolved by Nothing, and hordes of Nithlings emerge
regularly to attack the rest. If the Nithling invasion can overcome the Army
and the Great Maze, the House will be lost and the whole universe with it.
While Leaf tries to banish Arthur's doppelganger on earth, Arthur must survive
his basic training, avoid getting posted to the Front and work out how he can
free Part Four of the Will and gain the Fourth Key from Sir Thursday. If the
latest, strongest and most dangerous Nithling offensive doesn't break through
first!
5. Lady Friday
Friday is here! The race is on
to find the secret of the Middle House. The fifth eagerly awaited installment
in Garth Nix's best selling fantasy series,The Keys to the Kingdom. Arthur
Penhaligon's adventures in the House get ever more perilous as the week unfolds.
On the fifth day, there was fear! Four of the seven Trustees have been defeated
and their Keys taken, but for Arthur, the week is still getting worse. Suzy
Blue and Fred Initial Numbers Gold have been captured by the Piper, and his New
Nithling army still controls most of the Great Maze. Superior Saturday is
causing trouble wherever she can, including turning off all the elevators in
the House and blocking the Front Door. Arthur can't even find out what is
happening back home. All he knows is that Leaf isn't on earth any more. She's
missing and so are hundreds of other people who were transferred from regular
hospitals to a private institution run by a 'Doctor Friday'. From there they
have been taken somewhere else in the Secondary Realms, for Lady Friday's own
horrible purposes. Amid all this trouble, Arthur's mother is also missing, and
he must weigh up an offer from Lady Friday that is either a cunning trap for
the Rightful Heir or a golden opportunity he must seize -- before Superior
Saturday or the Piper beats him to it.
6. Superior Saturday
Garth Nix is back with the
sixth explosive title in his gripping fantasy series, The Keys to the Kingdom.
On the Sixth Day, there was Sorcery Arthur Penhaligon has wrested five of the
Keys from their immortal guardians, the Trustees of the Will. But gaining the
Sixth Key poses a greater challenge than any he has ever faced before. Superior
Saturday is not just one of the Trustees, she is also the oldest Denizen and
the most powerful and knowledgeable sorcerer within the House. She has tens of
thousands of sorcerers at her command -- and she has been preparing her forces
all along for the Will's escape and the activities of the Rightful Heir.
Everything is all just part of a greater plan she has been hatching for ten
thousand years. As Saturday's schemes become evident, Arthur is beset on all
sides. Nothing is eroding the House, and only the power of the Keys can hold
back the tide of destruction. His mother is still missing. His home city is
under attack. His allies are unreliable. He can't even get into the apparently
impregnable Upper House and even if he does, finding the Sixth Part of the Will
and gaining the Sixth Key might not be enough to counter Saturday's sorcerous
hordes or stop her bid for ultimate power.
7. Lord Sunday
In this seventh and last book
of THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM, the mysteries of the House, the Architect, the
Trustees, the Keys and the Will are revealed, and the fate of Arthur, our
Earth, and the entire Universe is finally decided. Arthur has wrested the Sixth
Key from Superior Saturday, but has fallen from the Incomparable Gardens;
fallen not to the Upper House but to somewhere completely unexpected. Alone in
enemy territory, as his mind and body are further transformed by the power of the
Keys, Arthur must struggle with himself as much as with his many enemies.
Meanwhile, Arthur's friend Suzy Blue plots an escape from her prison in
Saturday's tower, as battle rages above and below. Saturday's elite force is
pressing on into the Incomparable Gardens, while her massed sorcerers fight a
desperate rear-guard action against the Piper and his Newnith army. On earth,
Leaf has to cope with the aftermath of a nuclear strike. Responsible for all
the Sleepers in Friday's private hospital, she needs all the help she can get,
particularly as Leaf herself has become a target for intruders from the House.
And the tide of Nothing continues to rise, destroying everything in its path
