Accidents are unforeseen and inevitable. There is no way to prepare for an accident as you can never predict when something might go wrong. Even though we try as much as we can to protect ourselves and our families every single day, there is no way to ensure their safety all the time. However helpless you might feel, there is a simple way for you to protect yourself and your family against such an incident. The only thing one can do is to make sure that you are financially prepared and taken care of in case an incident like this occurs. Such mishaps only take a second to turn a person’s life upside down. A personal accident insurance ensures that you and your family are taken care of in case of any accident as it provides an insurance cover against them. The impact of such accidents is a lot for any family to deal with and hence, it is your responsibility to ensure that your family and loved ones are taken care of in such a situation.

Securing the future of your family and making sure that they are able to make their day-to-day needs meet should be the utmost priority of any individual.

How can a personal accident insurance help me?

Insurance companies offering personal accident insurance understand that accidents cannot be predicted but they can be prepared for. Max Bupa, being a leading health insurance company offers 100% of the sum insured in case of accidental death of a policyholder. They also provide cover in case of permanent total or partial disability, along with a host of other benefits. Here are some situations that are covered by personal accident policies.

Death: In case of death due to an accident, the policy would pay 100% of the sum insured to the nominee. Some insurance companies also cover a “Children’s Education Bonus” of Rs.5000 or Rs. 10,000 for maximum of two children.

Permanent total disability: Permanent total disability is when a person is disabled for life and they are paid the entire sum insured. Example – Loss of:

Both hands or both feet

One hand and one feet

One (hand or foot) and an eye

Sight of both eyes OR speech OR hearing of both ears

Permanent partial disability: In this case, a small percentage of the sum insured is paid on weekly or monthly basis. For eg:

Loss of index finger or thumb

Loss of hearing in one year

Loss of 1 eye sight

Loss of one hand

Temporary total disablement: This is when a person is fully disable and cannot work or earn a living but only temporarily. In this case, most companies pay a part of the sum insured to the policyholder. Example:

A bed rest of 3 months

Fracture in hands or legs

What is not included (Exclusions)
