Keep a Tights Spot for Winter
by Olivia R. Fashion consultant specialising in tights and stocThe winter collection for ladies tights have been put
together to draw excitement, flirty, edgy and fun feeling, with its range of
textures, colours and patterns. Despite winter being a cold, dull and miserable
season, why allow our mood to reflect this by wearing dull plain colours? Add
some spice and enthusiasm into your appearance this winter, and make the most
of the ranges available. Here are a few tips to get you started;
Instead of sticking to your boring, plain dark tights
which will make you feel down, throw in a pair of patterned tights with solid colours to enhance your mood. Create
your own blocked colours and shapes and mix them with other patterns to make
your outfit stand out and match it with a plain lengthy top. An example of this
is the mix up of Deco garter tights and the bohemian floral.
Textured
tights on the other hand provide endless possibilities for your
winter wardrobe. The use of vibrant colours allows a variation of mixes and
matches of outfits which gives you more for your money as you don’t have to
purchase other clothing to match with these textures. A good combination would
be pairing a classic pair of herringbone tights with an oversized knitted
sweater, or even put together a silky dress and matching it with a pair of
velvet tights
Bright
tights will express eye-catching colours attracting attention to
detail. Although bright colours are usually the thing of the summer, wearing
these tights during the winter season will keep that warmer feeling as they
eliminate the dull colours and that horrible cold winter season.
Thigh-highs are also on trend for the winter. They are predominantly the school girl classics play placed with the Mary-Jane’s, a pleated skirt and the ¾ checked dresses. This trend has been circulating for years, as it comes in and out of fashion year after year. However, it is currently on the increase, so keep your eye out for this look when shopping around for your winter tights.
Wearing your Winter tights
Ladies, when putting together your winter outfits along
with your thick winter tights or footless tights then ensure that you wear heavy materials with
plenty of layers underneath which keep you warm.
If you want to wear that dress which you thought you may
not see until next summer, pull it out of the back of your wardrobe and throw
it together with a classic winter style. Make sure the dress is quite heavy so
that it doesn’t blow everywhere; layer it with a chambray shirt, a belt to keep
this in check, your thick black winter tights and a pair of your Hunters
wellingtons to complete the look. This way you are trending your summer style,
but playing it safe with the winter boots as a back-up.
If you want to go for a more casual look to go with your
tights, then why not put together a thin plain turtleneck, a bright summer
weight dress, a sweater, your thick plain black heavy tights with a layer of
shorts underneath, and complete the look with your woolly beanie hat and scarf
to finish.
So ladies, before you lock away your spring/summer
collection for another year when the winter hits, take this advice and think
twice before doing so. Your current outfits can be worn through the winter as
long as you accessorise correctly and layer your clothing. This will save you
quite a lot of money and time in the long run, so you can spend your hard
earned cash on taking yourself away!
