Job Interview tips for Introverts

by Alison McKinley Resume edit services representative
An interview is an impressive event of its own accord and it is double impressive for people who are introverts by nature if to take into account that introverts are introspective, silent, deliberately dosing communication and feeling rather uncomfortable in the company of unfamiliar people.

Nevertheless, a recruiter will not give a discount to an introvert during the interview. They are going to be selected for a job on the usual terms. If you are looking for ultimate interview tips or you are not sure about your resume, one of possible options is to turn to one of online free resume and cv review services: https://cv-review.org/ Their experts usually can give an independant review of your current resume and provide free interview tips as well.
Anyway, if you belong to introverts, take into consideration the following pieces of advice, which are going to be helpful.
Plan a day right
One of the peculiarities of an introvert is the fact that they become tired of communication quick enough. And the thing is not that the communication is unpleasant. Introverts as a matter of principle cannot boast with an excess of pranic energy and during communication it goes away three times faster than when it comes to extraverts.
It is useful to take into account planning a day on which an interview is scheduled for. In order to be in shape, you need to accumulate some energy. For that, before going for a job interview, you need to make a pause in communication for a while.
Let us say, you have a job interview at 3 PM. Plan a day so you were free from communication within the period of 1 PM and 3 PM. It is possible even at work. Do not schedule meetings for this time, reduce phone calls to a minimum. Before an important interview (if it is an interview for a job in the company of your dream), it is even better to take a vacation and spend the morning in a quiet atmosphere.
Be ready for a sophisticated small talk
Introverts are not very good at small talks. The thing is that introverts are usually focused on the point and a gewgaw including verbal one may irritate them. One should take into consideration the fact that talks about nothing are an integral part of a communication including communication at work and in a recruiter`s office, it may become necessary to keep such a conversation. Ability to talk about pulling things (“Did you find us easily”? “What a terrible weather, is not it”? “I hope you did not get wet through on the way”, etc.) speaks of a person`s character and his/her communicative skills. If you make a gloomy face, being asked such kind of questions, it might not work with the job.
Switch on an internal controller who will pull you down each time you feel like looking onto the ceiling with a sad face instead of answering a question about weather. Keep a small talk, it is really important.
Keep a static tone during the interview
It is highly important to make a good first impression and leave in a positive mood while being at interview. These moments can be controlled. It is harder to stay tuned and look interested during all the meeting.
If an introvert is tired of communication, it can easily be seen straight away. There is nothing offensive: an introvert just distance oneself, looks spacy, philosophical. Recruiter feels offended anyway.
This is why stay focused on time from the moment you entered and till the farewell. For fun you may reflect a companion (it is a famous method from neurolinguistic programming). Copy gestures, pose, tone and tempo of a voice in a non-intrusive kind of way. It will help to hold attention and, as experts in the area of neurolinguistic programming say, if you succeed in reflecting, affection of a recruiter is guaranteed.
Tell you are an introvert
Do not do it at once as soon as you entered the office. At long last, being an introvert is not a diagnosis. It does not mean anything at all.
You may mention about peculiarity of your nature in a proper context. It should not sound as an excuse. It should sound like among other things so maybe a recruiter got some peculiarities of your communication style (though an experienced HR manager has to recognize an introvert soon enough).
For example, if you are asked about your strong personal characteristics, you may answer that as an introvert, I am different due to my ability to listen, I have an empathy, and therefore, I am a good company.
Or if you are asked about your weak spots, you may say that in order to make a decision you need enough information and for that some time accordingly. I find it rather hard to make a decision when my time is limited. At least my decision is always balanced with all the factors and risks to be considered (a classic example of answering a question about weak spots, you may underline an advantage).
