Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY to Heaven.

by John Elley A Believer in The Lord Jesus Christ
Such an exclusive statement may confuse, surprise, or even offend, but it is true nonetheless.

The Bible teaches that there is no other way to salvation than through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

He is not a way, as in one of many; He is the way, as in the one and only. No one, regardless of reputation, achievement, special knowledge, or personal holiness, can come to God the Father except through Jesus.

Jesus is the only way to heaven for several reasons. Jesus was “chosen by God” to be the Savior
(1 Peter 2:4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious).

Jesus is the only One to have come down from heaven and returned there
(John 3:13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven).

He is the only person to have lived a perfect human life
(Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin).

He is the only sacrifice for sin
(1 John 2:2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world)
(Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins).

He alone fulfilled the Law and the Prophets
(Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill).

He is the only man to have conquered death forever
(Hebrews 2:14–15 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage).

He is the only Mediator between God and man
(1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus).

He is the only man whom God has “exalted . . . to the highest place”
(Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name).

Jesus spoke of Himself as the only way to heaven in several places besides
(John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me".).

He presented Himself as the object of faith.
(Matthew 7:21–27 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”).

He said His words are life
(John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life).

He promised that those who believe in Him will have eternal life
(John 3:14–15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life).

He is the gate of the sheep
(John 10:7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep".).

He is the bread of life
(John 6:35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst".).

He is and the resurrection
(John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live".).

No one else can rightly claim those titles.

The apostles’ preaching focused on the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Peter, speaking to the Sanhedrin, clearly proclaimed Jesus as the only way to heaven:
(Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved”).

Paul, speaking to the synagogue in Antioch, singled out Jesus as the Savior:
(Acts 13:38–39 “Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.”).

John, writing to the church at large, specifies the name of Christ as the basis of our forgiveness:
(1 John 2:12 “I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake“).

No one but Jesus can forgive sin.

Eternal life in heaven is made possible only through Christ. Jesus prayed
(John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent”).

To receive God’s free gift of salvation, we must look to Jesus and Jesus alone. We must trust in Jesus’ death on the cross as our payment for sin and in His resurrection.
(Romans 3:22 “even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference”).

At one point in Jesus’ ministry, many of the crowd were turning their backs on Him and leaving in hopes of finding another savior.
(John 6:67 “Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”).

Peter’s reply is exactly right:
(John 6:68–69 “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”).

May we all share Peter’s faith that eternal life resides only in Jesus Christ.

You have the Free Will to make a Choice about where You will spend Your Eternal Existence... CHOOSE LIFE!
