Jaisalmer Stone or Gold Stones
by Gautam Sharma Content WriterTrip to Jaisalmer in search of natural stones
When I hear the name Jaisalmer , I cannot stop myself in
discussing about its natural stones. It was winters of december and I went to
go Jaisalmer on a bike trip. It was a sunny day there and since I was in search
of natural stones , I planned to visit Jaisalmer for Ita Gold
Marble , Ibri Gold
Marble, Moolsagar for Moolsagar
Gold Marble and Amarsagar Gold
Marble for which I have already read on the internet.
I reached jaislmer in the morning and took a Royal Enfield
from there than after searching and talking to locals went to RIICO industrial
area. The thing to remember here is there are two RIICO industrial area one is
old RIICO Industrial area and other is new RIICO Industrial area. If you are
Jaisalmer stone lover than old RIICO Industrial area is for you. When I entered
there all i can see was gold marbles everywhere with big gangsaws. The area
accomodate around 1000 or more than that gangsaws.
I went to 2-3 factories and enquired about the varieties of
Gold Marble available . Other than the varieties I mentioned above I also found
that there are Hadda Gold
Marble , Khandupa
Gold Marble, Desert Gold
Marble, Inca Gold
Marble and Ita Gold
Wooden Marble which is having wooden pattern. Other than this the locals
use the term supari marble which they called Ita Gold
Supari Marble.
Habur Stone or Rose Gold
Marble is having natural rose patterns on the stone but the
disadvantage of the stone is only that it dont comes in slab. These are small
stones found in nearby villages of jaisalmer around 50-60kms.
Jaisalmer stone is soft stone and is generally used for
sculptures. Very beautiful handicrafts can be made with this stone. The
handicrafts are mainly exported to Middle east countries. If you are using Gold Marble for
flooring or countertops than remember to use the thickness high (atleast more
than 16mm).
