What's wrong with this picture? The truth of the
matter is rape in a jail or prison does take place, and it is not a laughing
matter. Especially when you have to talk to the love ones of the victim and do
the investigation. My book Equitable
Local Governance and my research takes issue with the rate
of incarceration of men and women in jails and prison.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not soft of criminals. Research
shows that we have to become smarter about locking people up. I am for a
smaller government and a safer community. To apply our hard obtain knowledge,
we must come to the realization that we cannot incarcerate our way out of this societal
problem.
The lack of respect for authority and for our country translates
into a hostile community at large in many areas. Atheists and social elites have
removed the pledge of Allegiance to the Country and the Flag, prayer and the
bible from many of our public schools, if not all. Therefore we are reaping the
benefits of the over educated, self-appointed social-economic elites. They are
what I call: educated savages.
Now back to my topic, once arrested and placed in jail
or prison a percentage of inmates will be raped. America is only 5% of the
world's population, yet our incarcerating rate covers roughly 25% of the
world's prison population. This I will add is in raw numbers and by percentage
of the population. Of any developed country in the world, America
has the most prisoners.
Using 2013 numbers, that is 1.57 million inmates housed
in federal, state, and county jails and prisons. In the federal prison system, drug
crimes covers more than half of those sentenced to a year or longer. This
brings us to the 2003 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Which requires federal,
state and local correctional facilities to maintain and enforce a
zero-tolerance policy toward sexual assault for both inmate-on-inmate and
staff-on-inmate rapes.
From 2011-2012, there where an estimated 4 percent of
state and federal prison inmates and 3.2 percent of jail inmates reporting that
they experiencing one or more incidents of sexual victimization by another
inmate or facility staff in the preceding 12 months or since admission to the
facility.
To put this in a better perspective, it is estimated
that an inmate is raped every three and one-half seconds of every day in an America
jail or prison. This unwelcomed sex for incarcerated inmates is a horror story that
needs to be told. To be continued…thank you for reading….
