Jack Had Magic Beans

I am so frustrated and fed up with the insane ads and bizarre headlines sent out daily to bombard me with such titles as...

The Ultimate Ninja Tactic! ..... Jedi Power System! .... Secret Back Door Method... Black Hat, Underground, Guerrilla, the list of adjectives goes on and on.  All assaulting us on a constant basis... can we say "HYPE!"?  Can we get real?

All this is done in an effort to part you from your hard earned money.. OK, nothing wrong with that is there?  Well here comes the real problem.  The people who actually buy into the fancy videos, blaring headlines and high power sales pressure are the ones who can least afford to.

These ads are specifically targeted to reach people who are desperate and can ill afford to throw away their money. The ads use psychological tactics to give the buyer a "pie in the sky" hope so that they will spend what little they have on the pitched product instead of on good solid training.

I can really understand the appeal, after all who doesn't cheer for the under dog, secretly love a comic book hero or buy a lottery ticket now and then in the hopes of just maybe...?

Jack had magic beans, and we know that was a fairy tale.  Today gene manipulation and cross breeding techniques have given us beans with superior qualities but they are still not magic!  The farmer today still needs to plow, sow the seeds in FERTILE soil, weed, spray the plants against bugs, fertilize and pray for good weather so that he has the best chance of harvesting a good crop.

Business is no different.  A legitimate sale is made when a customer buys a product or service they want or need.  Good businesses are built on good business practices  and NOT when you wave a Magic, Super, Ultra, Secret or any other type of system, method or tactic in a customers face.

The final piece of the puzzle is the difference between a sale and a repeat sale.  Infomercial's are a nice example of this.... Ultra Hype.. "1" time sale and most often never again.  Your local grocer on the other hand provides you with quality product, friendly service and a relationship between you and him (do you ever say "hi" to the cashier you see every week when you check out?) and no hype.

Knuckle down and learn how to build relationships with people and your business will explode.  Buy into the hype and pump it out yourself and you will join the ranks of the snake oil salesman and door-to-door hucksters.

You choose!
