Italian Football Fixing and FIFA Corruption

Football has been of the most corruption free games in the last few years with a really small number of scandals coming up in the last few years. The lack of corruption has been thought to be the reason behind the success of football in the last few years. Well this long record about football has been interrupted this year thanks to the consecutive scandals in a row. These scandals are really harming the image of football and its different governing bodies and international levels, while the fans are confused about the future of football in the coming years.

The first scandal that came up was the scandal of football match fixing that had occurred in Italy. Italian football has a significant popularity worldwide with millions of fans. These fans were amazed when the heard the news about the arrest of around 50 officials and players who are suspected of match fixing. These officials and players belong to some of the well-known clubs. The Italian fans are the ones who are really angry over this because this incident has spoiled the image of Italian football locally and internationally. Everyone is just asking for the strictest action so that Italian football becomes clean once again.

At the same time there are really bad times going on for FIFA which is the international governing body for football and controls almost all of the world international football matches. FIFA has come under scrutiny for taking bribes from countries in order to allow them to host the World Cup events in the last 24 years. In this regard around 7 top FIFA officials were held at first but later on more arrests have been made and yet the investigation agencies are saying that there could be more arrests in the coming days.

Both of these scandals are really damaging the image of football all over the world. Different nations are threatening to boycott international events in the coming years if a full-scale investigation is not carried out to eradicate corruption.
